About the adventure

All new players to the Dungeon Run will start at level one. This allows new players to get the hang of their character or learn a new class to play as. Each dungeon is randomly generated based on the roles the players make at the start of the session. Each dungeon will have a combination of various rooms, such as traps, puzzles, safe rooms, treasure rooms, hidden rooms, enemy rooms, ally rooms, and finally the boss room. At the end of each one-shot, regardless of whether you completed the dungeon, each player will earn a level up. I then keep a record of each character, so if you join another one-shot of Dungeon Runners, you can continue to use the same character if you want. This is also a type of lootbox game. So each player will receive two chests at the end of the session. They will then be able to earn more chests for defeating the boss and finding hidden treasures in the dungeon itself. Each chest will reward a consumable item, a fixed amount of currency, and have a random roll that will either reward a weapon or armor. The currency can be used before the next one-shot you play in to gain more consumables, such as potions or scrolls, even. Each piece of weapon/armor can be scrapped if the player decides they do not wish to use the item. The player will receive a scrap amount equal to the quality of the item. They can then use the accumulated scrap to buy other, more useful weapons/armor or even higher-tier items.

About me

Hello everyone! My name is Gage, and I come from nine years of being a part of the world of TTRPGS. Admittedly, most of that has been with D&D 5e. I spent three years as a full-time professional DM, both on startplaying and other areas. I have a load of experience to share and help the games run smoothly. I love a good story and am always looking for ways to improve my craft. While homebrew worlds and stories are my bread and butter, so to speak, I am always up for new and inviting challenges. I always prioritize my players and their characters for story purposes and have never shied away from a little rule of cool when appropriate.

Character creation

Creating your character

Once you join the session, I will send you a link to the D&D Beyond character creator. We will only be using the 2014 rules + Expanded. All characters will use point buy/standard array to make it easier. We will then add the starting equipment, and you should be all set. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. I have no problem jumping into a voice chat to help walk you through any steps that may seem unclear.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please make sure to have Discord and a forgevtt account set up. You will also need a Dndbeyond account. Again, if you run into any trouble, please reach out, and I would be more than happy to help walk you through any steps needed to get you all set for the session. https://forge-vtt.com/ https://discord.com/ https://www.dndbeyond.com/

What Gage brings to the table

I try to incorporate music either through Discord or on the VTT itself. I will also bring animated fighting/spell effects as well as animated maps, so that all the players' hardware can run them. I always try to ensure that, no matter your hardware specifications, you can enjoy playing my games.

Homebrew rules

Normal Healing Potions are a bonus action to take. All others are regular actions. You can choose three different items to have a quick swap. Thematically, they must be able to fit on either of your sides or on your back. Rule of Cool can be used, but I won't allow heavy breakage of game rules or things that overshadow the rest of the party. No background feats in 2014 characters, please, and also any summons are limited by your prof bonus.

Safety

How Gage creates a safe table

Players are free to message me beforehand with anything they think could potentially be a trigger for them, and I will make all the necessary adjustments. Since this is primarily combat with medium puzzles and little roleplay, a lot of the normal Safety checks won't apply here. However, we will utilize breaks after big moments and all for aftercare to go over what we liked, didn't like, and what felt middle of the road.
