About the adventure
The world has already ended. Civilization is gone, the dead walk, and every safe place is temporary. In The Walking Dead Universe RPG, survival is about more than fighting walkers. Food runs out. Ammunition disappears. Strangers may become allies—or something far more dangerous. Every decision carries weight, and the people you choose to trust may matter more than any weapon you carry. We’ll begin with The Wolves’ Den, the official Survival Mode scenario included with the Starter Set. Expect tense exploration, desperate resource management, dangerous encounters, difficult choices, and plenty of opportunities for role-play. The game is built around the kind of pressure that makes *The Walking Dead* memorable: ordinary people trying to hold themselves and their group together while the world gives them every reason to fall apart. My games favor cinematic scenes, strong atmosphere, meaningful character decisions, and a living world that reacts to what the players do. Combat can be deadly, so violence is not always the smartest solution. Talking, planning, scavenging, risking yourself for someone else—or deciding not to—can be just as important as pulling the trigger. This game is a great fit for fans of The Walking Dead, survival horror, character-driven drama, morally difficult decisions, and tense cooperative storytelling. New players are welcome. You do not need to know the rules or the television series to survive your first day. The dead are predictable. The living are not.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi! I’m Michael, the Game Master behind The Iron Quill Guild Gaming Studio. I’ve been running tabletop RPGs for nearly 20 years, with experience ranging from classic fantasy and tactical dungeon crawls to horror, science fiction, investigative games, and narrative-heavy campaigns. I currently run multiple games every week across a wide range of systems, both online and in person. My online games make extensive use of Foundry VTT, along with custom maps, ambient audio, visual effects, handouts, and other tools designed to create an immersive tabletop experience rather than simply moving tokens around a map. My style combines strong preparation with player freedom. I enjoy memorable NPCs, mysteries, exploration, tactical combat, character development, and letting player decisions genuinely change the direction of the story. I’m comfortable working with both experienced players and people learning a system for the first time. Rules matter, but the ultimate goal is always the same: give the players a great night of gaming and make them excited for the next session. If you’re looking for a consistent GM who takes preparation seriously, shows up every week, and is invested in your characters and your experience at the table, welcome to the Iron Quill Guild.

Creating your character
We will assign pre-generated characters or we can roll up a character before the session date. Generally players join our guild and we meet up in audio to discuss the campaign and create characters beforehand.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This game is presented by the Iron Quill Guild's 'Let's Learn Series'. We use Foundry VTT and our Discord audio channel.
What Michael brings to the table
I provide a fully prepared Foundry VTT experience with maps, character art, tokens, handouts, visual scenes, and atmospheric audio designed to make the world feel dangerous, abandoned, and alive. My GM style is cinematic and character-driven. I use distinct NPC personalities and voices where they add to the scene, along with music, environmental sound, and strong visual presentation to help create the tension and dread of *The Walking Dead*. I want players to feel like they are inside an episode—not simply moving tokens from encounter to encounter. I encourage creative solutions and meaningful player choices. The rules matter, especially when survival is on the line, but I am not interested in stopping a great scene over an insignificant technicality. Expect a balance of **rules consistency and Rule of Cool**, with consequences that make sense in the world. Combat is dangerous rather than constant. Planning, negotiation, stealth, scavenging, and knowing when not to fight can be just as important as winning a battle. I also make a point of helping players who are new to the system, so you do not need to arrive knowing every rule. Most importantly, your decisions matter. NPCs remember what you do, situations can change because of your choices, and there is rarely only one way forward.

How Michael creates a safe table
I use an **Open Door** policy at my table. Players are always free to step away, take a break, or leave a session if they need to—no explanation required and no pressure attached. I also encourage direct communication if something in the game is making a player uncomfortable. *The Walking Dead Universe* can involve violence, fear, loss, and other mature themes, so I want everyone to know they can speak up privately or publicly and I will adjust the scene as needed. The goal is to keep the game intense and immersive without making anyone feel trapped or uncomfortable at the table.
