Meet the Game Master
About me
As an organized and detail-oriented Narrative Game Master, I bring rich plot lines and immersive story elements to every campaign and one-shot. I specialize involving players seamlessly into the narrative to create cohesive, unforgettable adventures. With experience spanning decades, from my start with the basic Dungeons & Dragons to my deep love for 3.5 edition, I’ve honed my skills and storytelling craft over time. After returning to 5E four years ago, I’ve been hosting weekly online games that keep players engaged and coming back for more. Currently, I run campaigns using the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons rules with a blend of 2014, on the Shard Tabletop (VTT) platform. Let’s roll the dice and make stories come alive!

Creating your character
Character Stats can be rolled on the Discord site, starting level will be 1 or equal to the current party level, whichever is greater. Characters can be created on Shard VTT, the link is on the campaign Discord. Almost every species and class is on Shard and available to choose, as well as 2014 subclasses. We will be using 2024 rules during the game.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
Everyone will need to have a decent mic for voice chat through Discord, there is also a text chat on Shard, Shard is free and browser based and works well even on mobile. A decent grasp of 5Es mechanics is helpful, but enthusiasm and engagement are crucial. I can help with character creation, if desired.
What DocApocalypse brings to the table
I have several years worth of content on Shard VTT, a plethora of maps, token borders, dice and homebrewed magic items and monsters. I have thousands of hours of background, ambience and combat music and some Foley files to add to the experience. I play mostly RAW, with plenty of Rule of Cool when appropriate. Characters can be made directly on Shard, which is updated to the 2024 rule set.
Homebrew rules
Drinking a potion is a bonus action, we use XP for leveling and when you level up it's immediate with all the benefits. We use Inspirations, Heroic Inspirations, Luck points and a starting Heroic Feat.

How DocApocalypse creates a safe table
Players can expect a darker overtone, with role-playing, exploration and combat. We will discuss comfort levels in session zero, I keep games adult, and am open to changing anything on the fly for the sake of safety. My Discord for the game is checked frequently, and I encourage posting role-play in the Tavern channel and engaging with the site based on the player's comfort level.
