About the adventure
Rise of the Runelords was the first Adventure Path, originally published for 3.5, and re-edited for the Pathfinder 1e system. It remains one of the highest rated campaigns for that system and there are many reasons why. This is a classic 'new heroes save a small town' from raiders during a festival... And then slowly become wrapped up in a plot that's 10,000 years in the making, as a Wizard-King of old begins to wake to reclaim his kingdom. Filled with all the classic tropes and monsters, but with twists and turns in a layered mystery, through some terrific dungeons and across the frontiers of Varisia. Are you up to save Sandpoint and maybe the whole world!?

About me
Greetings fellow gamers, I'm been on StartPlaying less than year, but have been running games for more than 25 years, mostly d20 fantasy. For the last 15 years, I’ve mainly run Pathfinder 1e Adventure Paths for a stable of 20 regular players. I run a mix of monthly and weekly games, as well as limited-run games. Through the support of a kind and dedicated community, I was able to make this a small business during COVID, when I left my career in journalism. I currently run a variety of ongoing games including Pathfinder (1e and 2e), Delta Green, and Call of Cthulhu, and have just kicked off a World of Darkness game (Werewolf). I have run Blades in the Dark, Runequest and Traveller before and would like to play more of these games if interest exists. For the past four years I've supplemented my business with a 5e kids program (Summer camps and afterschool), but no longer have a venue for this. I'm currently looking for adult players for ongoing campaigns, and may post the occasional one-off. I'm always open to discuss taking on a group of people looking for a new narrator. I'm a flexible and responsive GM, adapting to different styles and tones of play as needed. I love when story is king and lean toward narrative over mechanics. I try to be a benevolent GM and say yes to players whenever possible. I want to challenge my players, without punishing them.

Creating your character
I usually plan to create characters as a group during a Session 0, but often many players come ready to play. so: I use 20 point buy Encourage 3 traits and a drawback Give everyone a modified 'Background Skill.' What Dave B brings to the table
I'm an experienced GM with 30+ years experience, 5 as a pro. I love to tell a great story, but like to let the players direct as much as possible as I can adapt to many styles. This game can go combat heavy and roleplay light, or roleplay heavy with lots of combat. The goal I'm giving to myself with this campaign is keep up a sense of urgency, to keep the players on the hustle. So don't plan on having much downtime, or waste skill points/feats on crafting I'm prepared, but flexible, and try to create a community at the table as well as a damn good gaming experience for all.
Homebrew rules
We'll discuss these at the Session 0. I have 8-12 that I usually use in my games, but I want the player' buy in/further suggestions.
