About the adventure

All people who call themselves witches know one thing: knowledge is power. An arcane secret has rippled across the multiverse: a road, a ballad, deadly trials, and a boon. Your coven have learned of this road, and each of you need a boon, desperately. Uncover the road's mysteries. Learn the ballad. Follow the road. Find glory at the end. This is a long-term campaign where you play as witches in a coven. Your party begins in the Ravenloft domain of Triodia. Each of you is a witch of some sort, under threat of being exiled from your community, or worse. Perhaps you were already chased out, abandoned, or are being hunted actively. Note: Your character needs to be a spellcaster. All genders of witches are welcome. That said, like Agatha All Along, this campaign will be femme/woman forward and queer inclusive. :) This campaign is not-so-loosely based on the Marvel series Agatha All Along. If you have watched the series, there will still be plenty of surprises. There will be deadly encounters and many horror elements, though not far above a PG-13 rating.

About me

I’m Bardic Markus, a game master who can turn 1) a phrase and 2) the party (into frogs). I’m a long-time fan of fantasy, an avid enjoyer of D&D, and a storyteller to my core. I've DM'd in-person and online, for newbies and veterans, for roleplayers and tacticians alike. If you love Fantasy, Mythology, and drama, come try me out!

Character creation

Creating your character

- Characters are level 1 and will be created in D&DBeyond (more details are available in the Discord) - The following sources are allowed: D&D 5.5e core and D&D 5.5e expanded rules, excepting D&D beyond drops. Third party content and homebrew must be approved by me. - All players will roll a stat array, and each player can choose their preferred array from those rolled. - Players will start with standard equipment, one common magic item, a Potion of Healing, a budget of 100 gp for spell components and mundane equipment.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players must join the Discord. Links to the Campaign on D&D Beyond and Roll20 will be provided. You need a stable internet connection, working microphone, and (optional) webcam.

What Bardic Markus brings to the table

I do character voices and show myself on camera to enhance roleplay. I encourage players to do the same when they are comfortable (I want to see your beautiful faces!). My combats are tactical and challenging, sticking to the rules as written as much as I can. This campaign will have more some creepy/horrific moments than my usual games. Expect spooks and drama, in addition to occasional comedic relief.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew rules and rulings are posted in the Discord, they include: Flexible Ability Checks: Depending on the situation, it may be appropriate for players to use a different modifier than normal for their checks. (e.g. If a barbarian wants to use their strength for intimidation, they can use their modifier for that check.). Ganking: When a creature and at least one of its allies are adjacent to an enemy, they “gank” that enemy, and each of them has a +2 bonus to melee attack rolls against that enemy. Healing Potions: If a creature uses a full action to drink a healing potion, they treat them as having rolled their maximum. (The Fast Hands feature on Thief rogues bestows this benefit when you drink it as a bonus action)

Safety

How Bardic Markus creates a safe table

I will send a form for consent in gaming. In session 0, I will go over my hard rules in detail (respect for other players, safety tools, cheating policy, etc.). I use a version of X, N, and O cards. Sessions will have a 10-15 minute break halfway through. Out of session, my DM's are always open for any safety concerns.
