About the adventure
Welcome to The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, an adventure where whimsy and wonder blend seamlessly with mischief and mystery. This game invites players of all experience levels—especially newcomers—to step into a fantastical realm where the unexpected is the norm and imagination takes center stage. If you’ve ever wanted a D&D adventure that feels magical instead of intimidating, enchanting instead of overwhelming, this is your perfect doorway into the Feywild. Your journey begins at the Witchlight Carnival, a traveling festival full of dazzling lights, eccentric characters, and secrets tucked between its tents. But the carnival is only the beginning. Behind its cheerful façade lies a path into Prismeer, a Feywild domain caught in the grip of strange enchantments, delightful oddities, and whimsical dangers. The theme of the adventure leans into fairy‑tale charm: talking creatures, living stories, magical bargains, and rules shaped more by emotion and whimsy than logic. It’s a setting where creativity matters more than combat, and clever thinking often wins the day. At the table, you’ll play by talking through choices, asking questions, solving problems together, and rolling dice when your character attempts something daring or uncertain. This adventure shines with role‑play, exploration, and imagination-driven solutions. New players will find the rules easy to follow, and veteran players will enjoy the rich characters, playful worldbuilding, and the chance to approach challenges in nontraditional ways. Fighting isn’t always the answer here—sometimes humor, kindness, or quick wit is the most powerful magic. If you love vibrant worlds, meaningful character moments, and stories filled with charm and surprises, The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is the adventure for you. Step through the carnival gates, leave the ordinary behind, and discover a realm where every choice sparks new wonder. Your fantastical journey is about to begin.

About me
I've been playing TTRPG's for 6 years now, and Ive been running them just as long. I play many systems from DnD to Fallout RPG to Traveller, I have knowledge that spans many different settings. I also have experience playing and competing in wargamming environments like warhammer and trench crusade, and am familiar with macro and micro management strategies on a battlefield which make combat scenarios quite fun for my players! I also have experience voice acting here and there, and I am a natural sciences major in university, so my depth of knowledge about the real world can help with my games!

Creating your character
You’ll create your characters together during Session 1, so no one needs to prepare anything in advance. I’ll guide everyone through the process step‑by‑step, making it easy for new players and smooth for returning ones. You won’t need any books, apps, or materials—everything you need will be provided. For ability scores, players can choose any of the following methods: • Point Buy • Standard Array • 4d6 drop the lowest (rolled seven times) Characters will start at Level 1, perfect for beginners or anyone wanting a fresh start in the Feywild. You’ll have access to more than $200 worth of unlocked content on D&D Beyond, completely free, so you can use races, classes, spells, and options normally locked behind paywalls. This ensures everyone can build the character they truly want without needing to buy anything. Just show up to Session 1 with an idea—or no idea at all—and we’ll create the characters together. No materials needed from players!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before the game begins, please complete a few quick setup steps so you’re ready to play: • Create a free D&D Beyond account. Characters will be built and stored there. • Create a free Roll20 account. We’ll use Roll20 as our virtual tabletop for maps, tokens, and gameplay tools. • Install the Beyond20 browser extension (Chrome or Firefox). This links your D&D Beyond character sheet to Roll20 so you can roll dice and use abilities easily. • Join our Discord server. We’ll use Discord for voice chat during each session. That’s it! All game materials and character options are provided for free, and you won’t need to bring anything else. Just make sure your accounts and the extension are set up before Session 1, and we’ll walk through everything together.
What Kaiden brings to the table
As your GM, I bring an immersive, cinematic style to the table. My specialty is advanced virtual tabletop design, so you can expect dynamic lighting, atmospheric exploration, detailed maps, and interactive environments that make the Feywild feel alive. Every scene is crafted to enhance mood, mystery, and wonder. I use character voices, ambient music, and sound effects to deepen immersion and bring NPCs and locations to life. Whether you’re speaking with carnival performers or wandering through strange Feywild realms, the world will feel vibrant, whimsical, and full of personality. Combat in this game isn’t just about swinging swords—there are often multiple ways to resolve encounters beyond a bloody ending. Creative thinking, clever roleplay, negotiation, and using the environment can all shape how conflicts play out. I embrace the Rule of Cool when it enhances the story, but keep the rules clear and consistent so newer players never feel lost. My goal is to give you a magical, accessible, and deeply engaging adventure where you always feel supported, excited, and free to explore boldly. You’ll have everything you need—technology, content access, and a richly prepared world—to enjoy The Wild Beyond the Witchlight at its best. Let’s make the Feywild unforgettable together.
Homebrew rules
My homebrew rules add drama, roleplay, and meaningful consequences: • Revivify Eulogy Rule: Casting Revivify requires the caster to speak a short, heartfelt eulogy to persuade the fallen character’s spirit to return. This adds emotional weight and encourages memorable roleplay during resurrection scenes. • Critical Hit Lethality Rule: Critical hits still send the character to normal death saves if they drop to 0 hit points—but they cannot be declared as “non‑lethal.” In other words, a crit that reduces a character to 0 is always treated as lethal damage, removing the option to knock someone out at 1 HP through a critical hit.

How Kaiden creates a safe table
Player comfort and safety are central to every session. I use a set of clear, supportive tools to ensure everyone feels respected and free to enjoy the adventure. We’ll start with a Lines and Veils document, shared before Session 0. This lets players set firm boundaries (Lines) and content they prefer to limit or soften (Veils). The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is generally family‑friendly, so most Lines and Veils only come up if player actions steer the story into those areas. We’ll review these together during Session 0 so expectations are crystal clear. The table follows an Open Door policy: players can step away at any time for any reason, no explanation required. Your comfort always comes first. There will also be regular Breaks during each session so everyone can recharge, reset, and stay engaged. At the end of each game, we’ll use Stars & Wishes to talk about what you enjoyed (Stars) and what you’d like more of in future sessions (Wishes). This helps me tune the experience to the group’s needs. I also provide short Aftercare check‑ins after sessions to make sure everyone leaves the table feeling good and supported. Overall, the safety framework is designed to protect your comfort, encourage communication, and make sure the game stays accessible, whimsical, and enjoyable for everyone.
