About the adventure

A perfect introduction to the Blades in the Dark System. A world of shadow, threat, and crime in which the bad guy won a thousand years ago and now you and your criminal friends. Work with a mastery of crime and violence, or smooth talking and stealth, in order to make a name for yourself and your crew... or to prevent anyone from knowing you even exist. Anything from a crew of knee breakers and robbers to a master heist crew a la Ocean's Eleven is completely viable... and equally dangerous. The fun and tension of playing a crew of rogues of various flavors and builds allows for an incredible variety in play style, score style, and improvisational problem solving. A breath of fresh air from various D20 systems that puts the action in the player's hands.

About me

Hey all, I've been running 5e for six years and have recently been expanding into various systems like Blades In the Dark and Bladerunner. I like to run immersion and emotionally poignant campaigns with a lot of themes and genres. My players describe my style as "Anime adjacent" due to the pacing and over the top descriptions of combat encounters.

Creating your character

Character creation will occur in a session zero where we go over the rules, the game, the characters, the crew, and the safety tools and player expectations. I have a hard copy and can utilize materials through Roll20 to give ver

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Once you contact me I will give you the Roll20, the Discord, and everything else you will need in order to play the game without issue. I am more than happy to walk anyone through the making of these accounts if they need it and any tutorials in utilization.

What Joseph Agnew brings to the table

I will endeavor to give my players the best possible experience that I can given my experience with this and other games. I use ambient music, musical stings, and character theme songs when appropriate and possible. The rules of this system are few, but strict, which allows player creativity to reign supreme. I always attempt character voices, images, and strong theming rooted in the player characters, the players, and the world.

Homebrew rules

Currently there is nothing I homebrew in this game due to it's open ended nature making largely unnecessary in the ways that it sometimes can be, or gets to be, in some D20 systems.

Safety

How Joseph Agnew creates a safe table

I use a list of safety tools and an open door policy regarding anything that happens at the table or between the players who are at the table. My tables are a safe and comfortable space for any player, as long as they do not make it less so for anyone else. I also allocate an hour before and after the games as sort of "office hours" for conversation and discourse before the game, and an hour after in order to check in and ensure everyone is okay, had fun, and to address any comments, concerns, or concepts.
