About the adventure
π₯ β If you should face me. . . β βοΈ The Arisen has fallen, and Gransys has been all but destroyed. Ser Mercedes barely escaped with her life to return and warn her people. Monsters grow ever bolder, tearing apart the countryside. The Dragon has turned his attention to Hearthstone and dared any brave enough to take up arms and face him. Now, the people of the Liongran Peninsula have to make a choice: flee to the Mainland and hope the destruction does not make it that far, or face certain death defending their home. So, tell me, child of Man: have you been stricken with cowardice, or will you take up your tiny barbs of steel and face the Wyrm? βοΈ Dungeons & Dragons 5e (2014) + lots of fun homebrew! βοΈ βοΈ LBGTQIA+ friendly βοΈ βοΈ Long-term (expected to run for 30+ sessions) βοΈ βοΈ Open to players of all experience levels βοΈ βοΈ 18+ required, 21+ preferred βοΈ

About me
Greetings adventurer! My name is Michael (they/them) and I am a β¨ master of the gaming β¨ I am a lover of all things fantasy, and I have been playing 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons since it was released. I have also become familiar with Knave 2e, the Jim Henson's Labyrinth ttrpg (a personal favorite), and Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e. I am a rule-of-cool, LGBTQIA+ friendly, homebrew loving GM who loves to collaborate with my players to breathe life into the worlds that we create. I love being able to say "you can absolutely try" to the wild and wacky ideas my players come up with, and figuring out ways to make it work. As a GM, I strive to create an immersive and enjoyable experience for each and every one of my players. I may be terrible at accents and not know how most spells work without looking it up (Eldritch Blast is easy, ok), but I promise, you will have a wonderful time sitting at my table. More about me: I am a writer, collector, amateur photographer, storyteller, and adventurer. I am in my early 20s, but was lucky enough to be introduced to Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e when I was a kid (probably too young to be playing, honestly) and have been a player and occasional dungeon master ever since. I work in conservation for state and federal organizations across the United States, and I am working my way towards a degree in ornithology.
View Profile βCharacter creation
Creating your character
Before our Session 0 as a group, I will spend roughly an hour one-on-one with each of you for character creation. We will spend that time setting your character's class and equipment, background and connections, and goals for their personal story arc before we get started. Once characters are created, we will schedule our group Session 0 and work on character relationships and get to know each other before we begin playing. This will likely include some light in-character roleplay to get familiar with everyone.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
βοΈ What you need - A discord account - A webcam (or other video-capable device that can be linked to your discord) - A mic and/or headset (a built-in mic is fine as long as it has decent audio quality) - At least one set of dice (online is fine, but everyone loves the shiny math rocks) - A comfortable, quiet, distraction-free space to partake in multi-hour long sessions - A reliable internet connection - Ability to commit to a long-term campaign (expected to run for 30+ sessions) and the flexibility to adjust schedules when needed - our real lives are important too!! - A basic idea for a character βοΈ Also Recommended - A cozy blanket - A good drink - A tasty snack - A basic familiarity with the original game, as this takes place roughly after the ending

Safety
How michael hyde creates a safe table
Though this game is lighter than many of the other games I have run (looking at you, Strahd), player safety and comfort is still my top priority. When it comes to player safety tools, I most frequently utilize consent checklists (generally via Google Forms), which will be sent to every player before our one-on-ones and then generally discussed as a group during session 0. I also am big on aftercare, and if we have a particularly intense moment, I often encourage short breaks as well. I have an open-door policy for all of my players, so please know you can come to me about anything that might be hindering your enjoyment. π
