About the adventure
This is a homebrew campaign set in our universe several hundred years into the future. It focuses on a squadron of soldiers who pilot powerful machines colloquially called mechs, but are known professionally as Warcaskets. This is their story... It is the year 2413. Humanity has reached outside their solar system and befriended the beings beyond their home. Some arrived with war and destruction, while others arrived with diplomacy and grace. They shared their secrets, and now distant colonies sprout across the stars. Thirty years ago, silent invaders arrived in orbit over Earth in black ships. They wreathed the world below them with blood-red fog. Those who suffered it died and rose again as a cruel mockery of life - part machine, part flesh. They tore apart their friends and family, rampaging across the world as the black-clad soldiers of their masters marched behind them. Twenty years ago, after the fall of the United Nations, what would become the Coalition reached out to the imprisoned members of their communities: Fight or starve. Experimental machines that would serve as their machines of war and as their jail cells, to wage war against an enemy that cares little for rules of war. They accepted and were placed into machines they became part of, fed by the machine that they controlled with their minds. With restrictions in place to keep their fellow soldiers safe, these former criminals became the first Warcasket pilots. Ten years ago, the Dominion (the silent invaders) fled the solar system, driven off by the remaining mechs and their undying pilots. Left behind was a world ravaged by war and covered in a deadly fog that ever-so-slowly dissipates. Now, the old enemy returns. The Dominion has set its sights on Earth once more, guided by traitors who believe the fog their masters left behind is the next step in organic evolution. This fog has caused those who survived to become powerful psychics called espers. Join the Star-Eater Confederation, or die like the Coalition. You are capable individuals who survived the blood fog and became more than you were before, now a living weapon empowered by your mind. With little other option as a not-yet-fully-understood esper, you accepted the invitation to join Hades Squadron, the remaining squadron of Warcaskets in the Coalition. Unlike their previous pilots, these mechs are free to leave and enter, and no longer serve as a prison. You will be trained to fight, to function as a team, to pilot your mech, and to wage war against the Dominion across Earth and throughout the stars. Each mech is unique, and your new esper gifts will make it function like it's always been a part of you. Suit Up, Pilot We Got a War to Win! This is a story-driven campaign that follows certain plot beats that shift and change as the party progresses. They arrive as orders from the people who guide the Squadron and progress from actions on Earth to out amongst the stars.

About me
I have been running TTRPG campaigns since 2015. Started as a player, then moved up to running a session once every couple weeks. Now I'm doing it weekly, and I can't get enough. I love to write and build worlds, and this lets me be every character I've ever written. I'm happy as the Forever DM, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my worlds with others!

Creating your character
Characters will be created on or before Session 0 using the Esper Genesis supplement for D&D5e. Stats will be determined using either Standard Array or "4d6 Drop the Lowest" in the Discord server using the Avrae bot, with applicable rules involved. They will start at level 1 and will progress up to level 15 by the campaign's end. Character species are restricted to: Dendus, Eldori, Human (Earthborn and Galactic variants), Matokai, and Promethean. All classes are available, alongside space travel (using hyperspace/FTL) and a focus on mech warfare. Be prepared to have multiple characters prepared, as the first section of the campaign is a training section where characters may die or be sent off depending on their results.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a microphone (and a webcam if desired), an account with Discord to join the server, and a web browser to connect to Foundry.
What CryptMaster brings to the table
I will be providing the Foundry compendium, monsters, maps, and token options, and hosting the VTT to be available during and a bit before each session. I really love roleplay and getting to know each other's characters, hearing about backgrounds, stories, and beliefs while resting at camp or between missions. I like to employ voices for characters, though sometimes the voice doesn't work, and I enjoy finding music to help with ambience and immersion. I embrace Rule of Cool, as the rules are there to set a baseline and can be bent or ignored in favor of the enjoyment of the group. All we need is that it makes sense, is something the character can do, and the rolls prove it!
Homebrew rules
Bonus-action health potion use, Brutal Criticals (max extra die instead of rolling), Mech warfare, translate from Imperial to Metric for system units of measurement, specialized mechs, and Final Stand (you are awake while doing Death Saves, and can choose to fail all Death Saves to take one last big action).

How CryptMaster creates a safe table
Session 0 will cover both character creation and any limits or triggers for players who wish to participate. These can either be covered through the Discord voice chat or via direct messaging. Breaks can be taken when needed or at the session's halfway mark. The content warnings provided in this listing may be changed based on player needs, as content may be removed to make it more comfortable for the group. I have a zero-tolerance policy for the mistreatment of fellow players, and actions that cause a fellow player to no longer have fun due to disagreeable character actions or statements will be met with a warning, with further such acts leading to removal. Phobic statements and toxic acts (such as "it's what my character would do" to disguise a toxic action) are not welcome and will cause removal from the game. We're here to have fun and escape from reality for a bit.
