About the adventure
This is a war story. While escorting a group of refugees to the great port city of Blackbottom, the convoy is attacked, setting off a series of events that sees our heroes traveling the countryside, aiding those in need as they carry a message: the fragile peace that the people of Vasloria have taken for granted after the deposition of their noble King Omund is broken. The people must prepare themselves or fall! This adventure, for 3rd to 4th level Draw Steel characters, features plenty of the characteristic riveting combat, with a lesser focus on montages and negotiations. The original source material, Keep on the Road to War, is a re-imagining of the classic Red Hand of Doom adventure, but it's more loose inspiration than a re-telling. I plan to add a few additional encounters/victories and combine with an accelerated 12 Victories per level, so that we'll definitely end up at 4th level by the end of the adventure. This adventure (as with much of Draw Steel) lends itself to an episodic feel. The expected tone is heroic! The party is trying to help people when they can, protecting them from bodily harm and community disintegration under the threat of a looming war. Indeed, rallying the people of the countryside will have some mechanical weight in this adventure!

About me
I'm Ryan and I love running Pathfinder 2e! I came on over from DnD 5th edition and have been running 1 to 4 games a week for about 4 years now. My style tends towards cinematic, fast-paced combat with a lot of humor. I love doing ridiculous voices for my NPCs and letting players get away "rule of cool" shenanigans. I've got an active Discord community posting about Pathfinder, video games and the like. Come on by and join a table! All tables are of course queer-friendly and we have a friendly Discord community for folks trying to wrap their heads around Pathfinder 2e.

Creating your character
Characters will be third level at creation, and as such should start with a first echelon trinket and two first echelon consumables. Orden is a big, varied place, so all core ancestries and classes are appropriate, though of course the more sci-fi ancestries will feel a bit unusual! We'll have a session 0 to sort out the characters but it's not a bad idea to come with an idea. For the purpose of this adventure, you are heroes in Vasloria escorting a caravan of refugees. Did you come to work together, are some mercenaries, does one of you serve in a leadership position for the refugees as part of their group? You're starting as third-level heroes so you're already probably something of a big deal!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need Draw Steel on Steam (also known as the Codex VTT), which can be purchased on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/2902740/Draw_Steel/ I run the game through my Discord server, to which you'll receive a link when you join the game. Beyond that, an understanding of the rules (we are 3rd level!) is highly recommended. You'll need a decent microphone, a quiet area, and a solid internet connection.
What Ryan brings to the table
I enjoy using character voices and playing combat music. I pride myself on my game pacing, never much hesitation or hemming and hawing. I've converted the Keep on the Road to War adventure to Codex myself, and have fully features maps with dynamic terrain and elevation set up.
Homebrew rules
We'll be playing RAW for this one! So far I have not found the need to use much homebrew. I may use the Threats and Opportunities system to spice up some of the montages.
