About the adventure
"Welcome members of Candela, and thank you for coming at such a late hour... *the room around you is shrouded in a cool autumn darkness, illuminated by a single pendant above a worn wooden table. You recognize the faces of those around you, and especially of Clara Magpie, your Lightkeeper.*" Parchment & Ink is a Candela Obscura(CO)-inspired completely handcrafted 1-shot perfect for a spooky autumnal eve. The rules are entirely based on the CO ruleset but for the purposes of making this game easier to immerse yourself into and compact enough for a single sitting, I've pieced together my own homebrew ruleset - which I will share with everyone before the game. Perfect for both TTRPG beginners and veterans alike ~ If you enjoy a cinematic & narrative fiction-first game, where you'll feel entirely absorbed in a horror-lite atmosphere, this is the game for you. This 1-shot is designed especially for players who get excited at the idea of working alongside a team of investigators to work through a chilling mystery, filled with plots twists and perhaps a jump scare or two. Upon joining the game session, you'll recieve: - Character creation details (and a sheet to fill out) - Rules for this game - Lore & background information For the game, I'll need a copy of your character sheet & a short background story a day prior to the game in order to incorporate it into the story (note: I've prepared several characters that you can optionally pick from as well) ~

This game will take place entirely through discord voice chat only. Any accompanying documents, clues, and other items will be shared via discord as well. Please be sure to have a good quality microphone and headphones ready, along with EITHER 3 d6 dice or an online dice RNG of your choosing ~
What Fern's Fables brings to the table
This suspenseful 1 shot will be shared primarily via theater of the mind with accompanying background music and a few additional surprises. I stick to Rule of Cool and much prefer a compelling story. This particular game has minimal combat and is mostly a mystery ~

How Fern's Fables creates a safe table
For this horror-lite game I have several safety nets in place to ensure everyone feels 100% comfortable, 100% of the time. - Before the game I'll need everyone to complete a form for Lines & Veils. - On game day we'll review everything again just to make sure everyone is onboard. I'll also remind everyone at the start of the game that at my game tables I have a "no questions asked" policy; if at any point something feels uncomfortable, a player can leave the chat with absolutely no questions asked. - Throughout the game I'll also have my DMs ready for private X-card & N-card messages. We'll also have 1 or 2 short water & chill breaks throughout the game.
