About the adventure

In the sunshine and constant little breezes of Yatamon's narrow streets sits a shabby little eatery, looking like nothing so much as a cat curled up for a nap. Faded characters flap sleepily along the front entrance, and it's easy to pass it by -- but you've heard about this place. Those who need it, find it. You walk inside, blinking a little at the dimmer interior. A kind-faced boar spirit behind the counter beckons you to sit in front of him. He begins chatting lightly as he works, but you can tell he's taking you in from head to toe. You never saw a menu, but in a shockingly short amount of time, you're handed a steaming bowl. The food is so incredible, you can't imagine being hungry ever again. But he waves dismissively when you get out your money. "If you enjoyed the meal, what I could really use is some help..." ------------------------------------------------------------- This listing is for a one-shot based in Yatamon, the biggest city in the Obojima setting! It's a cozy, Studio Ghibli-inspired world where people and spirits live side by side in a mash-up of historical Japanese culture and mysteriously abandoned 1980s technology. The restaurant is the location for a full campaign, and these one-shots can act as the jumping-off point for the campaign or as a standalone adventure to try out the world. I run family-friendly, lighthearted games with memorable NPCs and a rich world. Come check out our corner of Obojima!

About me

Welcome! I'm DM Lacara, from the DM Roundtable on YouTube and the Enclave Discord server. I've played TTRPGs for 15 years, and have been DMing a full homebrew world 5e campaign for almost 2 years. These days, I prefer running Enclave missions: ask me about the system! I love light-hearted, cozy settings with lots of fun side quest potential, allowing my players to explore and bond without a sense of impending doom. Epic stories don't have to be stressful stories, and character development doesn't have to imply trauma; join my table and leave refreshed!

Character creation

Creating your character

I have Obojima-specific pre-gens available on my server, you can check them out when you join. If you're bringing/making your own character: players can be any 5e class, including those from supplementary books. I don’t run for evil characters, so please keep alignments to good/neutral. Please make your character level 3; characters can be made on any platform, as long as the sheet is viewable for me (this includes photos of a paper sheet, if analog is your preferred method!).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Games will run with audio on Discord. I will share links for my Discord server after sign-up.

What Lacara brings to the table

Obojima is full of detail, colorful NPCs, and mysteries under every unturned stone. It’s a great place to dive in and get lost! As a GM, I run much more to the "Rule of Cool" end of the spectrum. I run low-tech theater of the mind and my NPCs are memorable and distinct. If the table is comfortable with it, I'm also happy to change some of the major combat mechanics to make battles feel more immersive (if there's even combat, which is not by any means integral here).

Homebrew rules

If you want to do non-lethal damage, you can do it, regardless of the type of damage you’re dealing.

Safety

How Lacara creates a safe table

My games are universally PG-13 and I stay away from dark themes in general. However, if anyone has a topic or theme that does not fall into an obvious category (e.g., a fear of carrots), please DM me when you join. Player aggression is not allowed in-game or at the table. I have a zero tolerance policy on this, and anyone who I deem to be acting in an uncivil manner will be removed from the game.
