About the adventure
’80s HEROES: HOPE AND GLORY A Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Campaign Ranks 2–5 | An Original Superhero Earth Cold War headlines. Cable television. Arcades and shopping malls. Factory towns and glass towers. Space shuttles climbing toward tomorrow while everyone wondered whether tomorrow would actually come. Then something fell from the stars. An alien arrived on Earth and the world changed in its wake. Whatever came with it spread across the planet. Ordinary people began doing impossible things. A teenager walked unharmed from a burning building. A construction worker lifted a truck. A nurse discovered she could heal with a touch. Somewhere else, frightened people discovered powers just as extraordinary and decided the world owed them something. This isn't a Marvel variant universe. It's a new superhero world being born. And you are there at the beginning. You wake up able to do something no human being has ever done. Your characters aren't legendary heroes. They're ordinary people caught in the Event: mechanics, students, cops, musicians, teachers, soldiers, bartenders, reporters, runaways, parents, dreamers. People with jobs, families, mistakes, debts, Walkmans, bad cars, and plans for lives that suddenly don't fit anymore. ’80s Heroes: Hope and Glory begins at Rank 2, when putting on a homemade mask and stepping into an alley after dark can still be terrifying. The campaign follows those first uncertain heroes through a changing decade as powers spread, villains emerge, governments react, corporations take notice, and the whole world struggles to decide what this new age means. By Rank 5, the people who once stitched together their own costumes may have become the names an entire generation looks toward when the impossible happens. This is a campaign about the moment superheroes become real. About optimism in an age that has plenty of reasons to be afraid. About ambition, sacrifice, celebrity, greed, courage, power—and the stubborn belief that tomorrow can still be better than today.
