About the adventure

Top percentile marks in Math, Psychology, and Business Administration. Outstanding extracurriculars. Spotless attendance and behavior records. That's what it takes to get a contract with GalMeX, the sector's most successful interplanetary trading company. This isn't you. At the Academy, you spent more time at the laser shooting range than poring over commodities ledgers. You figured out a way to put your simulated Orca hauler into a triple spin to needle a path through the asteroid field instead of flicking on the repulsor screens. Or perhaps you just pissed off one too many instructors with your snarky know-it-all attitude, no matter how well-earned it may have been. Whatever the reason, the assignment that awaits you does not involve a well-pressed uniform and a glamorous cabin on an Orca. In this beginner-friendly, custom-written Traveller campaign in the spirit of the golden age of sci-fi literature (Norton, Heinlein, Asimov, and Simak are all major inspirations), you will play as fresh hires aboard Queen Selene: a Free Trader vessel. Free Traders are independent actors who take on risky and uncertain operations in the poorly charted fringe worlds. Some view them as the Marco Polo, the Zheng He, the Vasco da Gama of space. Others see them as nothing more than ruffians and scoundrels, cheating and brawling their way through the frontier. One thing is certain: all that time spent at the laser range or careening through the comets? It will amount to a whole lot more than just 'reckless tomfoolery.'

About me

I specialize in modern and futuristic settings -- often cynical, dog-eat-dog worlds with oppressive institutions. But, while the occasional 'cash is king' mercenary story is fun, my most memorable campaigns are made by players who refuse to be another cog in the system. Together with you, I want to create stories about rage against the machine, compassion when it is least expected, and putting everything on the line to make a change. 'Think you got what it takes, kid? Let's get fixing.' I've been GMing for over a decade, and every session my players continue to surprise me with their ingenuity (or sometimes lack thereof :P). I run a variety of rulesets, primarily as long-form, character-driven campaigns; for the rare pre-written campaign that I do run, I always ensure to include some extra twists and PC connections. ๐Ÿต๏ธ I am always open to developing a new campaign in modern, post-apoc, or futuristic settings. I also have a flexible schedule, and can comfortably cover US, EU, and APAC timezones. If you're looking for a unique experience, let's talk! ๐Ÿต๏ธ

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll create characters together during Session 0, using modified Traveller lifepath tables. Every player will be a recent graduate from the Academy who, for one reason or another, hasn't quite made the cut for the prestigious GalMeX assignments. The reasons are entirely up to you. Were you not studious enough? Did you spend your time pursuing topics deemed extraneous to the proper education of a merchant? Did you do everything right, only for a personal conflict, family drama, or unfortunate circumstance to derail your career? Maybe you simply weren't willing to become the kind of person GalMeX wants you to be. Regardless of the reasons, you will all be brought together aboard Queen Selene!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Discord account is required for both sessions and between-session communication. The game is hosted on Foundry VTT; no purchase or registration necessary for the players. A dedicated microphone is highly recommended. Cameras optional, but not required. Previous knowledge of Traveller rules is entirely not necessary, just bring a positive attitude and a desire to engage with the game!

What Fixer Victor brings to the table

Queen Selene is a Traveller campaign in a custom setting heavily inspired by 1960s~80s Sci-Fi classics. The general tone leans towards heroic escapades, but the heroes are ordinary people who triumph through their wits, camaraderie, and convictions rather than superhuman abilities or unique equipment (although at some point you might run into some of the latter..!) As you will play a Free Trader crew, mercantile activities are likely to be a major part of the campaign, however actual buying/selling/moving cargo might not be. Free Traders are as much surveyors, explorers, and diplomats as they are merchants -- you'll spend more time surveying new locales, negotiating trade rights, or securing safe passage than buying and selling goods. And besides, the best profit margin is on things acquired for free, right? There's always derelicts and ruins to discover and ancient tech to salvage! This is a player-directed campaign set in a living galaxy. The explored region is deliberately limited -- big enough to offer plenty of options and opportunities, but not so big that you'll never see the same place twice. You'll develop favorite haunts and build relationships -- or perhaps make plentiful enemies and find yourself banished! The setting is hand-crafted, with unique worlds, factions, and plots weaving a web of interconnected, constantly evolving stories. You decide which factions to support and which opportunities to pursue, all the while seeing consequences of your choices unfold.

Homebrew rules

The setting is fully customized, with a variety of unique worlds, factions, and encounters. Ship and equipment types will be continuously expanded with both available third-party content and our own constructs. Other rules adjustments will be discussed together with the group, and brought into play if desired.

Safety

How Fixer Victor creates a safe table

I have zero tolerance for bigotry or -isms of any kind, and everyone's comfort and safety is always a priority for me. This campaign deals with some fairly heavy themes; it is always completely okay to call for a break or step away for a time, and I do my best to accommodate every player while providing a coherent and interesting narrative. Lines and Veils will be discussed during session 0, and can always be clarified or updated in private if need be. Anonymized X cards are available at all times during play. Each session will end with a debriefing where players are welcome to discuss their Stars and Wishes, comment on the session and overall campaign direction, or simply unwind and banter for a while.
