About the adventure

Welcome to the Magaambya, the oldest and most prestigious academy of magic in the Inner Sea. In Strength of Thousands, you’ll begin as a new student—attending classes, forming friendships, joining campus traditions, and uncovering dangers hidden beneath the school’s peaceful surface. Over the course of this sweeping 1st-to-20th-level adventure, you’ll grow from an aspiring initiate into a teacher, leader, and hero whose choices may shape the future of the Magaambya and the Mwangi Expanse. This is a character-driven Pathfinder campaign about community, discovery, personal growth, and using knowledge to make the world better. Expect colorful NPCs, meaningful relationships, magical mysteries, exploration, tactical combat, and plenty of opportunities to solve problems through diplomacy, ingenuity, or compassion. Players who enjoy investing in the setting, developing their characters over time, and becoming part of a living community will feel especially at home here. The entire Adventure Path has been exhaustively updated for the PF2e Remaster, including creatures, encounters, treasure, spells, and rules references. I have also replaced the original adventure’s lightweight academic subsystem with a custom set of mechanics that makes life at the Magaambya a meaningful part of play: your studies, academic specialties, friendships, and accomplishments will provide real choices and rewards throughout the campaign. No prior experience with Pathfinder or the setting is required—curious newcomers and experienced players are equally welcome.

About me

Hey there! I'm Gamersaurus Lex, a longtime player and GM who owned a local game store for about a decade. I am a happy-go-lucky extrovert that spent the last decade of his life running a FLGS and professionally nerding out with gamers of every age and disposition. I love running games with lots of excitement, fully realized NPCs, and a true open sandbox approach, even when we're running an established module. You want to ignore the module's storyline and chart your own course? I will make it happen! Prefer to play in one of my homebrew campaigns set in the Moonsea Region of the Forgotten Realms? Buckle up, you're in for a wild ride! I have decades of experience introducing new players to the hobby, at my game store, conventions, and at my home table, so you couldn't be in better hands if you're just starting out with TTRPGs or if you're switching systems. I have been a pro GM for about 20 years, and only recently started offering my services online with StartPlaying. Veterans will enjoy my games, too, especially with all the Easter eggs that pop up in every session. I tend to run D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and Starfinder these days, but I have plenty of recent experience with 3.x, Savage Worlds, GURPS, and the many varieties of the Cypher System. And, let's be honest, given time to prepare, I can run any system if there is a group that really wants that system.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be generating 1st level characters at our session zero. Feel free to come with some concepts already in hand, but part of the fun at the session zero is agreeing on connections between party members and a fun and complementary party mix. You're going to magic school, Harry! But you don't have to be a caster. Well, you are gonna be able to cast spells, but you can choose any class you like (including straight-up martials) because the adventure uses Free Archetype and requires you to take either Druid or Wizard. Obviously, if you;re a Wizard, you will take the Druid free archetyp, and vice versa. We will discuss all of this and more at the sesison zero, but I wanted to point out this one unique aspect of the Adventure Path.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Once you join my Discord (https://discord.gg/hbtpYnkUWB) everything will be available for you: a player guide, resources for character creation, a channel to discuss concepts with the other players, links to the VTT, and more.

What Gamersaurus Lex brings to the table

I provide a polished, carefully prepared campaign experience built specifically for Pathfinder 2e Remaster. Players can expect an extensively updated version of Strength of Thousands, professionally organized digital materials, atmospheric maps and artwork, ambient music, memorable NPCs, and a custom academic system that makes classes, studies, friendships, and achievements an engaging part of the game rather than background bookkeeping. My GM style is character-focused and collaborative. I give NPCs distinct personalities and voices, create space for quieter character moments, and reward players who engage with the world and one another. Your decisions will matter, relationships will evolve, and I’ll work with you to weave your character’s goals and history into the larger campaign. New Pathfinder players will receive patient guidance, while experienced players will find plenty of opportunities for creative tactics and system mastery. Combat is tactical, dynamic, and run according to the PF2e Remaster rules, with enemies that behave intelligently and encounters that reward teamwork. I generally follow Rules as Written so everyone can make informed decisions, but I’m happy to make a quick, fair ruling when the rules would otherwise interrupt the story’s momentum. Creative ideas are always welcome—the Rule of Cool can open possibilities, but it won’t invalidate character abilities or make meaningful choices irrelevant.

Homebrew rules

We will be using a homebrew system to track academics, as well as a more generous Aid system and bestiary tracking so you get the benefit of past successful recall Knowledge successes when facing the same creature or similar type of creature as one you previously faced. I give out Hero Points at the beginning of the session and after the mid-game break. Last session's MVP (voted by the players) gets a second Hero Point. And each player who contributes written fiction to the Discord channel between sessions gets a bonus die (usually a d6) to add to a roll during the next session.

Safety

How Gamersaurus Lex creates a safe table

Player safety, comfort, and mutual respect come first (this is supposed to be fun!). At session zero, we'll go over Lines and Veils so everyone can identify subjects they want excluded entirely, handled off-screen, or approached cautiously. You can also DM me before the session zero on Discord if you have a confidential line or veil, and the resulting table boundaries will be discussed without identifying that you requested them. During Session 0, we’ll also establish expectations around tone, player conduct, character conflict, romance, and the campaign’s potentially sensitive themes. Although there is plenty of combat, this can a very "cozy" adventure if the players want it to be, with all of the rivalry, competition, and romance that one would expect at a school of magically charged young adults. During play, we’ll use digital X, N, and O signals. Players may use them publicly or message me privately—no explanation is ever required. Anyone may also request a pause, break, rewind, or scene change at any time. I will check in when a scene becomes especially intense, and players are always welcome to step away from the table without penalty. After difficult sessions, I’ll leave time for a brief debrief and open-door check-in. Players may contact me privately afterward, and I’ll follow up when appropriate. Our boundaries can be updated at any point during the campaign; consent is ongoing, and no fictional moment is more important than the comfort of the people at the table.
