About the adventure

🧝 You are a ragtag band of adventurers who are investigating strange and mysterious events prior to being swept up to the cursed realm of Ravenloft. 🏰 Travel through a land of ancient castles, forgotten villages, and diverse cultures, where every person has a story and every ruin may conceal treasures, lost histories, or secrets best left hidden. ⚔️ Prepare for haunting omens, strange curses, mysterious strangers, and whispers of a nameless horror that even the great Count Strahd may fear. 🎲 The people you meet, the mysteries you unravel, and the treasures you uncover will shape your journey and may reveal that Ravenloft's deepest secrets are far older, and far more dangerous, than anyone realizes. 💀 Expect deep roleplaying, fast-paced combat, and intriguing mysteries with elements of gothic and folk horror. 🧙 This adventure is open to beginners and veterans alike, and rewards players who are curious, adventurous, and willing to take crazy risks in exchange for great rewards. About me

Greetings! I'm Godric, your friendly neighborhood GM. My table is my virtual living room, so make yourselves at home. Be creative, be kind, and have fun! For me, tabletop games are about more than rules. They’re about collaborating to create fantastic adventures together. That’s the magic of the experience: sharing in telling the story and deciding what happens next. I enjoy running games that are welcoming, fun, and family-friendly without being corny. I want players to relax, be creative, and share in the magic of the journey. My worlds can still be gritty and challenging, but players can feel comfortable taking risks, trying creative ideas, and seeing where the story leads.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation happens before the first session so we can jump into the adventure right away. After you sign up for the game, you'll be invited to my Discord server where we have channels for discussing character creation. We will also schedule a Session 0 before we start the campaign to fine-tune any character ideas you may have. I will create Foundry accounts for each player on my server so you can login and review the game materials. I will have at least half a dozen custom pre-generated characters to choose from if you would like, or you may certainly create your own. If so, It's helpful to have a general idea of what sort of character you would like to play (fighter, wizard, rogue, etc.). We'll roll your character stats and build them in Foundry during Session 0.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

In order to participate, players will need to join my Discord and Foundry servers. Don't worry if you’re new to the Foundry virtual tabletop. I’ll provide instructions on Discord and help you get set up before our first session. You will need access to a computer and the internet to access Foundry properly. No additional software or paid subscriptions are required.

What Godric brings to the table

My goal is to create a living world in which you, as the player, can truly immerse yourself. I put a lot of effort into worldbuilding so that you feel like you’re inhabiting a real place with its own people, history, and problems. I portray a wide cast of characters with different voices and accents, and I use ambient music and sounds to help set the scene. Combat is meant to be fast-paced and punchy, but in some cases, you can avoid it if you choose. Do you want to negotiate with the bandits or arrest them? Will you try to tame the monster or slay it? Or do you have a different idea for handling the situation? Clever roleplaying and creative problem-solving are always encouraged and rewarded. If you have a cool idea for something your character would want to do, please share it! I want each character to have their own motivations and place in the world, so that your character feels like they're linked to the plot. You're a real part of the story, not just a generic placeholder along for the ride. The rules are there to give structure to the world, but they can often be bent, and in rare cases, even broken. The Rule of Cool doesn't mean you'll be riding dragons (or slaying them for that matter) at level 1, but it does mean you deserve a chance to try out cool ideas when they make sense with the story, even if the rules don't otherwise accommodate them.

Homebrew rules

Safety

How Godric creates a safe table

This adventure is rated approximately PG-13, meaning both explicit sexual content and excessive gore will be kept off-screen or veiled. That being said, the game does include mature themes and may be frightening for some players. Before the campaign begins, we’ll hold a Session 0 to create characters, discuss the game’s themes, and establish what everyone is comfortable with, including both the things you’d like to see in the game and the things you’d prefer to avoid. If a boundary comes up during play, you can always let me know either in-game or via a private message on Discord, and I’ll adjust accordingly. If anyone needs to pause the game and take a break, we can certainly do so at any time.
