About the adventure

The Lord Ruler is dead. It's been a hectic year since then and now you find yourselves on the finishing up another job with your fellow crew members for your boss Enge. However, a sudden string of events land your party with a horrific key to a future that will affect long after your lifetime. Join a story that sees the consequences of your actions felt across the eras as you create characters who will affect the world of Scadrial in this adventure that takes place in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series. You will start in Era 1's story before creating new characters for Era 2 and experience the effects that your Era 1 counterparts left in their wake. As a Game Master with over 200 sessions of Cosmere RPG and active Plotweaver Envoy, you can be assured that you can focus on the narrative while I help guide the mechanical gameplay in a way that flows with the story. While no previous knowledge on Scadrial is necessary to play this game, there are some basic knowledge details that will be expected to know for the Mistborn Legacy story. A 'Welcome to Scadrial' document will be provided for players to review - all levels of knowledge is recommended to review this as the books may have revealed a bit too much info than what a normal person may know.

About me

Some dragons hoard gold. Others hoard gemstones. While I never will turn down such hoards, I hoard stories - a hoard that grows with each passing day. As a long-term roleplay writer, I enjoy creating new stories and curating prewritten ones to fit the tone or purpose of my stories, parties, and games. I have been type-roleplaying for many years, being part of the forum roleplay groups back in the age of Gaia Online and other similar groups. Since then, I have been writing posts that expressed the inner workings, the active actions, and the pointed conversations of hundreds of complex characters. This is only amplified when compiling them together to form a story that is reactive and interactable from a group seeking the next dawn. I have a corgi familiar named Fenrir who often enjoys giving me the Help action and is a mini-celebrity amongst my players, often having a related npc or party pet that represents Fenrir and his antics. I value narrative context and will do my best to fit the mechanics to the narrative you want. This has led me to curating and crafting custom content - often referred to as homebrew - for several games, players, and even other game masters. I do my best to not include AI generated imagery in my live games, choosing to not use such images for advertisement and actively replacing any edge/unknown cases with commissioned pieces, and often support growing artists in my communities. I also do not use AI in any of my play-by-post messages. This provides a raw experience to my creative inspirations.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created in a dedicated Session 0 for each Era. There are two eras that will be played through. During these Session 0s, extra time will be dedicated to filling out the characters interactions with each other as the story assumes the players know each other well enough. If you join after an era's session 0, a dedicated paid 1 on 1 time slot will be scheduled to introduce you to the other characters, where we are at in the story, and what character you can play. If you join during Era 2, you are not restricted to what legacy you can take. However, your Era 1 variant will not be considered to have existed for changes to the narrative.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should read the provided 'Welcome to Scadrial' document, create a free Demiplane and Roll20 account, and link the accounts together. Players without Demiplane access to the Mistborn content should notify me with their Demiplane account name so I can share my books with them. Finally Players will need a Discord account (free) to participate in the game. Discord and Roll20 links provided after sign up.

What Onyx (Megan) brings to the table

Players receive access to Mistborn books via Demiplane Sharing, a GM who builds a complex narrative and is willing to explore the edges of the pre-written story in order to include your own desires, and a breathing world that has characters who react to your actions rather than just being people on a page.

Homebrew rules

While I typically shy away from Homebrew for 'learn the system' games, I am not opposed to it if there are mechanics or elements of the game that are not pleasing to the group and alternatives can be derived or added with ease and group unanimous vote.

Safety

How Onyx (Megan) creates a safe table

Safety is an open question and never a finished conversation. Session 0 goes over what we want to see and don't want to see in general and in setting specific terms. Players can choose to add or remove their own points from this growing table at anytime. During gameplay, multiple areas of safety tools are employed and will be discussed and showcased in session 0. If an X card is played, the table takes a break and the player who played it may choose to contact me to explain more. Without context, I make the best decision to try to move on from the current scene. In a 3 hour game, one natural break is given, though players are free to take as many breaks as they need - just let us know when.
