About the adventure

Gritty from the road and only miles from the Keep that is to be your new home, you are attacked by bandits that seem weirdly focused on a single person and the book she carries. From there, you must survive the harsh wilds, learn the political forces that power the Keep, and find a way forward against the ever growing threat in the Caves of Chaos. This story is built on the Heroes of the Borderlands starter set module - designed to give you a taste of all the best moments in D&D, from survival, to dungeon crawls, to intriguing NPCs and local complications. It will take you through the first 3 levels and teach you everything you need to know to go on any epic campaign you could imagine. Whether you're new to DND or old hat, there is a lot to love. If you love it, we can even continue on in the same timeslot to another adventure at the end - chosen by the party.

About me

I run playful games with occasional tactical combat, lots of roleplay, and meaningful consequences. We make stories together and it's a blast. Come for the shenanigans, stay for the friends. I'm a former high school literature/writing teacher and get a kick out of teaching new games to new friends. I'm also a community theater performer and costumer who loves a touch of character in my characters. Come play with me!

Character creation

Creating your character

This a learn-to-play, so I'll walk you through character creation on Roll20 - we'll be using the Player's Handbook. When it's over, you can choose to make new characters for a new adventure, or we can make a new campaign to take your current adventurers onward to their next great story.

The current party

There is no party yet - it's waiting for you!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Once the game has enough players, I will send the whole group a link to the Discord with all the info you'll need to know. We will be using Roll20, so you'll need a free account there when we get started, but we'll cover all of it in the discord!

What Lizz brings to the table

I am a teacher, so I'm good at bringing in the rules as they're needed and explaining them clearly while also keeping the story on track. I also do silly character voices and help engage new players in roleplay by inviting them to tell us what their character is thinking or feeling at important moments and engaging them in conversations with NPCs and villains.

How Lizz creates a safe table

I always use lines and veils and the x-card to help everyone continue having fun at the table. If you don't know what those are, no worries, we'll explain them in session zero. Session zero is a pre-campaign session in which we get everyone set up with characters and expectations and talk about why the characters are traveling to the Keep (your backstory and connections). Usually, we also get to do some roleplay or minor combat at the end as long as there is time.
