About the adventure
For the past one hundred years, the great amethyst dragon Sazanthe has ruled the realm of Whelvia. Sazanthe was fearsome, but never cruel. Under his watch, the people of Whelvia prospered while your enemies trembled in fear. But some nine months ago, something terrible happened and Sazanthe was murdered by his apprentice, Lykona. Her dragon scales are not bright amethyst, but a deep and foreboding violet, and unlike her regal victim, she prefers to rule Whelvia with horror and grim violence. The order of the Knights of Whelvia who served Sazanthe have all bent the knee and now serve the vile dragon whose breath turns people to stone and whose magic turns the innocent into monsters. But Kykona has only been the sovereign of Whelvia for less than a year, and there are still those who are brave enough to fight back against her -- at least in small ways. You are some of those brave rebels.

About me
I learned to play my first TTRPG (Basic D&D) at age 9, almost fifty years ago. Within three years of that, I started GMing, beginning with D&D, Gamma World, and Traveller. Since that time, I have played scores of different TTRPG systems, (and starting around age 19, several LARP systems as well), and I haven't paused for more than a couple of months since then. Currently, I run a monthly D&D 5e (2014) campaign and a weekly Masks: New Generation PbtA campaign for my offline friends. But I have even more stories I want to share with the world at large!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation may begin prior to session zero where the character's stats, ancestry, heritage, and level one abilities may be selected. Character creation will be completed during session zero where the characters' backgrounds and interconnections will be finalized. Some worldbuilding will also occur during session zero so that the players have some input into the shape of the nation of Whelvia where they reside.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have a Discord account and sign into the game's Discord (preferably a few minutes prior to the listed game start time). Players will also be expected to log into or create a Foundry VTT account for the game, the links to which will be provided on the Discord. It may be helpful for each player to have a blank or form-fillable character sheet which can be filled out during session zero. This will also be available for download on the game's Discord server.
What David: The Bearded One brings to the table
I will teach the rules of Daggerheart to those players who do not know them well, and I will provide thematic images and sounds and other materials when they come up in the course of the campaign. I will also host the Discord and link to the Foundry where the game is run, and provide the dice rolling app. I will also help to describe what horrors befall your party when the rolls don't go your way.
Homebrew rules
The Splendor domain is not available in this campaign. You may still play Wizards or Seraphs, but those classes begin the campaign essentially crippled, as nearly half of their abilities will be forever unavailable to them. Character classes and other options from Hope & Fear are available except for Aetheris which does not exist as an ancestry in Whelvia. The dragon Lykona's breath weapon is different than what is described in the text.

How David: The Bearded One creates a safe table
A Lines & Veils document will be compiled ahead of and/or during session zero. X, N, & O cards will be available to regulate gameplay on both Discord and Foundry. At the end of each session, there will be a debriefing period in which any bleed issues can be addressed. Also, Stars & Wishes will be called for in order to help shape the future course of the campaign.
