About the adventure
Welcome, drowned souls and shipwrecked mariners to the Locker. Like so many others who have died at sea, you have arrived at a waterlogged archipelago surrounded by eternal darkness. The Lost meander here. the chains that bound them to the corporeal world rust and crumble as they sink deeper and deeper in to the void. But just as the last drop of oil sputters at the tip of the latern wick, so too do embers of hope smolder for those who yearn to reclaim their station on the mortal coil... Perhaps there is a chance for YOU... ...perhaps you will triumph, when so many before you have surrendered to the tides of gloom. ...perhaps you will escape the the endless waters of purgatory and return to the realm of the living, reclaiming the feeble carnal existence you once loathed. But perhaps (and this is more likely), you will remain one of the many who are LOST IN THE LOCKER... Pirate Borg is fun, fast to learn and wild ride in a world where Pirates of the Carribbean meets Lovecraftian horror. No experience in playing Pirate Borg is required, I will teach it as we play. Experienced Pirate Borg players who have yet to play "Lost in the Locker" (or want to experience it again) are also welcome. While we take inspiration from cosmic horror and it is Halloween after all, this game will lean more in to action and comedy vs. dread, exploring the strange land of the dead, learning how to escape, and then pulling off the necessary escapades and hijinks required in a sandbox style reactive adventure. Play your characters like you are driving a stolen car - take risks, make bold choices, and enjoy the ride, no matter what the outcome! My personal GM style is 1. welcoming and inclusive for beginners of all stripes 2. highly improvisational, taking inspiration from and adjusting the story based on your decisions 3. narrative, cinematic and driven by Rule of Cool

About me
👋 Hi, I’m Stu. 👋 For over 20 years, I’ve run 1,000+ cinematic, player centric games as a professional GM running D&D, Daggerheart, Pathfinder, Blades in the Dark and countless indie systems. I am excited to join StartPlaying and start playing even more games with you! 🎥 FUN, CINEMATIC AND PLAYER DRIVEN🎥 I have a professional background as a creative, which coupled with my experience in improv comedy means my games are immersive, cinematic and respond to your decisions guaranteeing unforgettable moments centered around your characters. I love to entertain, and run games that lean Rule of Cool + fun/comedic vs. Rules as Written + dark/serious. 🎭😆THE EXPERIENCE😆🎭 🎨 My games uses sourced art, curated music, rich description and my improvisation skills to give you a rich and tailored experience. 💥 No rulebooks are required on your end, I will help you get set up with a character and teach seamlessly as we play. 📡 I've also tested the technology we'll use to play extensively before launching to ensure it fades in to the background so you can focus on enjoying the game vs. doing tech support! Here are some quotes from my past (and current) players: 🥷 "Playing with Stuart is basically agreeing to become emotionally attached to imaginary people, make wildly questionable decisions, He creates a world that feels alive, reacts to our choices and somehow makes even our most ridiculous plans feel normal. The sessions are immersive, funny, tense and occasionally devastating in the best way. Stuart is a brilliant storyteller, a generous GM and very good at making you care far too much about fictional characters." 🧙♀️ "Stuart is an incredible DM! As a first-time player, I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the game. He sets a fantastic atmosphere, delivers compelling and easy-to-follow stories, and creates a safe space where collaborative storytelling thrives. 10/10 experience. I can't wait to play again!" 🕵️♂️ "Stu is an excellent DM, who manages to weave structured storytelling with responsive improvisation. He takes his craft seriously, bringing a level of fidelity and immersion to the world, story and character beats through visuals, music, vibes and excellent narration. Highly recommended for coherent, narrative-forward, immersive games where you want a DM that's just as much about the world as they are the mechanics." 👨🚀"Creative, empathetic and deeply engaging - Stu is one of the best GMs I've had! He is a wonderful storyteller, great at crafting and presenting imaginative worlds and characters. What I enjoy the most is that he puts players' choices at the center of narrative-building. It makes playing at his table such a fun collaborative creative process that I enjoy deeply!" 👊 WELCOMING & INCLUSIVE 👊 I strive to ensure a welcoming and warm environment for everyone, regardless of background or experience level. I can't wait to tell a story together with you! $10 Off Referral Link For Your First Game! https://startplaying.games/referral/cmr7aj24q00mhk304lxb098xs 🧌🧟🥷🧙♀️🧜♂️👨🚀🕵️♂️🦹♀️🛸🏯⛵️

Creating your character
Pregenerated characters will be provided, but you are also welcome to: - bring Pirate Borg characters who have died in past games; or - create a new character for yourself via the link below before the game starts! https://pirateborg.brettodonnell.ca/
What to expect
Preparing for the session
1. Join the Discord link that is sent when you sign up. 2. Generate or select a pregenerated character to be your lost soul for the game. You will need to bring this sheet and have easy reference to it while we play (a print out you can scribble on is best, otherwise a PDF and a scratch pad to keep track of equipment and HP will do). 3. You will need Discord on your computer with a internet, and a working microphone. A webcam is encouraged but not required (I will be using mine!). 4. Your sense of humour and imagination and a suitably spooky vibe for Halloween!

Homebrew rules
While I'll be running the rules as written by Limithron, I do run games with Rule of Cool (as they encouraged) and you will also find that the Locker works a bit differently than a normal game of Pirate Borg...but discovering that is part of the fun!

How Stu creates a safe table
Safety is a priority. Owlbear Rodeo has an interface to anonymously alert the table on areas of discomfort and X cards, to ensure the game is a safe place for all participants. I will show players how to access that system and use it before the game starts. Ahead of the game, players can also provide feedback on any lines or veils they have to me via DM so I can fully accommodate their needs and adjust things. Feedback is collected at the end of the game and valued highly - I'm always eager to improve. Despite being Halloween, the game is a intended to be more of a comedy and while darker subject matter is present, it will be managed with a light hand. I'm going for an "M" rating.
