About the adventure

For fans of the Soulsborne games and Lovecraftian horror, look no further! Come discover horrifying secrets, wield trick weapons like a proper hunter, and roll some dice to kill a few beasts! Taking place in a Victorian era, grimdark setting, you can take a stand against the plague that roams the streets of Luyarnha or die trying. My table will be using the Steinhardt's Guide to the Eldritch Hunt supplement by MonkeyDM. This is a long term game that will hopefully continue to even more if I manage to impress. You'll have access to the unique subclasses, races, and Jaegar class from this supplement along with more!

About me

I'm Shin. I've been a DM for about four years now. I used to be a writer and voice actor, which has made the first steps as a DM come naturally. I enjoy telling compelling stories for people to engage in and love to see my players immerse themselves in my works. I enjoy doing voices, utilizing immersive music, and getting my players into character for all sorts of shenanigans and adventures. I aim to provide a positive, memorable experience of your characters growing into legends. Memorable roleplaying moments, challenging and engaging combat, and NPCs to interact and ally yourselves with. I enjoy intertwining your character's story with the overarching plot. And not just at once, but multiple dedicated sessions to exploring the intricacies of your story. I advocate for rule of cool, but in healthy doses. After all, abusing the RoC too much can take away from those few moments from being really special. I'm willing to hear out folks on their interpretations of rules and spell descriptions. I always keep a door open for my players to voice anything to me. I'd love to offer all I can to make this a worthwhile DND experience whether you're new or a veteran. I look forward to rolling some dice with you!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be discussing characters one-on-one after session 0. We'll go over the general details during session 0, of course. But to give you an idea... Roll 5d6 and drop the lowest 2 for ability scores. This is the method used for campaign 4 of Critical Role, which gives better odds for powerful stats. If you wish to utilize point buy or standard array, you'll be allowed empowered variants of both methods as well. Content from this supplement is allowed of course, including the variants of races from this setting, new subclasses, and the new Jaegar class. You're free to utilize official content. Homebrew is negotiable, but I reserve the right to veto anything.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have the basic equipment ready and a Foundry account. In the event you'd like to try the content featured in Steinhardt's, I'll provide the details of the new class, subclasses, and the new mechanics should it be of interest. You'll also receive an invitation to the Discord server.

What Shin brings to the table

First and foremost, I wish to provide a worthwhile and memorable experience you'll be telling people stories about outside of the game. My goal is to have fun with my fellow DND enjoyers and further improve myself as a DM. I love using music for ambience and character voices to provide a unique, immersive experience to everyone at my table. I tend to stick to Rules as Written, but I'm open to your interpretations of the rules and can allow Rule of Cool to happen every now and then. I just find that saving RoC for those special moments is what makes them all the more amazing. I am a big fan of roleplaying and a major numbers guy. I enjoy combat and try to sneak one in every other session with its own narrative weight of course. What I expect from you is to be a decent human being and treat myself and your peers like adults and to be ready to roll some dice. This is your hard-earned cash you're willing to invest in me, so let me work with you to make it fun! If you ever have any grievances about anything, my door is always open to chat. Even outside of games.

Homebrew rules

I will be sticking to 2014 rules, but I'll adhere to 2024 ones like how it takes a bonus action to feed an ally a potion. Advantage and disadvantage does not stack, but provides a flat +2 bonus for every additional instance of it.

Safety

How Shin creates a safe table

My doors are always open. You're more than free to voice any problems or concerns you may have with me whether it's how I'm running a game, another player, or even myself. I adhere to at least being a decent human being, so if you treat me with respect, I'll repay that kindness tenfold. We will of course go over anything you may be sensitive about during session 0, especially for a campaign like this. If you have a preference on how to proceed with this, I'd be more than happy to take you up on that.
