Blades '68

Blades '68

The Sixties, there's a plasmovision in every home, an autopod in every driveway, and the B.L.U.E. array keeps the supernatural horrors away, mostly.

About the adventure

This one shot is designed to give you a taste of Blades ' 68. The game is a future state of Duskvol, the setting for the Haunted Victorian Gothic city meets Peaky Blinders game that is "Blades in the Dark". As it was in the past, this is a narrative and action forward game of teamwork versus challenges. There are factions up to all kinds of things, ticking clocks of disaster and danger all over...and in the middle of it, the tight wound spring setting the world in motion, is your crew and your character. Based on the original Blades in the Dark roleplaying game, Blades '68 spins the clock forward, taking the heist TTRPG from a fantasy Victorian era to an alternate-universe 1960s and plunging players into a world of consumerism, science, and secret espionage. This game uses mostly theater of the mind and is not Rule or Combat crunchy. If you play for interesting situations, mystery, and well, character driven shenanigans, this game is for you. If you NEED tactical, number crunching character build optimization = win experiences, this is not the game for you. I lean hard into story and rule of cool. In Blades '68 you'll take on the role of Radicals, Swingers, Intellectuals and Paranomalists. You'll join forces with hard-bitten fixers, ex-military Veterans, shadowy Operatives, and outcast souls sealed inside a robot body. Put those PCs together into new Crews like the revolutionary Militants, thrill-seeking Racers, or the mysterious esoteric cult of the Utopians.

About me

I believe a session becomes memorable because of what everyone brings when they sit down together. I lean into the Rule of Cool. When something cinematic or awesome is on the line, I use a “yes, and” approach that keeps the momentum alive. I’ve run games for all ages and can adjust tone and content for younger players. I’m also experienced with corporate groups and can tailor sessions for team‑building or professional goals. My games highlight player skill and creativity. It’s not about perfect builds — it’s about how you play, not what you play. I keep meaningful consequences on the table, including injury and death, and I embrace the unknown, the dangerous, and the monstrous. Your choices, your reactions, and how you use the tools you have in the moment are what truly matter. If you enjoy playing imperfect characters, taking risks, and clawing victory from the jaws of disaster, we’ll get along well.

What Skulliver brings to the table

I embrace rule of cool. This game is very grounded in setting and narrative so, embrace theatre of the mind grounded in the mid century modern + cultural upheaval and visions of the future from our own 1968 and you should be all set to take part. I tend to voice characters and encourage you to do so as well. It's fine not to if you don't feel like that is fun for you. I want you to have a good game and not stress about your role play.

Safety

How Skulliver creates a safe table

Since this is a one shot in a setting with crime and horror, I trust that you will take that into account. It can be tense game and it's not going to be cozy as a setting. My personal lines are overt sexual content, torture and cruelty to children or animals. I won't describe it and I won't support it at the table from players. I expect all players, myself included to be respectful to each other. Please see safety tools in play.
