About the adventure

Centuries ago, the city of Bramblewell thrived among Alderheart’s exposed roots. During the Battle of Alderheart,Bramblewell’s Nightwatch was the first to spot the Bandit Coalition’s scouts and alert the fledgling city of Alderheart above to the impending attack. Acting as a vanguard, the Nightwatch fought bravely under their captain, Tahmina, and succeeded in holding off the invading force. Though many died, including Tahmina, their sacrifices ensured the residents of Bramblewell made it to safety in Alderheart’s Canopy. Today Bramblewell is a ruin, having swiftly declined in the shadow of the Great Tree City as its inhabitants migrated upward and left the dangers of ground-dwelling behind. Now it is a place where thieves nest among crumbling buildings, and the graves of Tahmina and the rest of Bramblewell’s dead have long gone untended. Fascinated by tales of yore from an early age, Beren Loamstep grew up to become curator of the Evertree History Museum. There she collects and catalogs ephemera and other artifacts from Alderheart’s storied past. Her interest in the history of the Canopy led her to stories of Bramblewell in the days before the treetop became a bustling metropolis. To assist in putting together a new exhibit, Beren hired an archaeologist with impressive credentials to conduct fieldwork in the ancient ruins at Alderheart’s roots. Among the findings was a lantern that she restored and allowed a thespian by the name of Lucero Silverstring, a member of the Historical Society of Alderheart, to use during nightly performances ahead of The Gloaming. Unfortunately, these performances were cut short when the ghostly figure of an undead soldier appeared. Has Beren’s curiosity somehow angered a spirit? NOTE: Since this campaign is designed to be shorter we will jump into a modified version of humblewood tales after to keep adventuring!

About me

I try to bring a welcoming environment for new players, but also a creative enough one so that players who have been playing for awhile get a little something different. I like to think out of the box and encourage my players to do the same! If you want to somersault off the back of a moving horse while firing an arrow I will do my best to make that happen. While your fate is in the hands of the dice I view your fun’s in mine and as such I try to make my table not only a fun time but a place people can escape from the craziness of the world.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be discussing character creation in session 0. If you have an idea of what player you would like to play, that's great! If you find yourself struggling and needing to brainstorm ideas I am always available to do so. During session 0 we will go over how to roll characters and any other characteristics or gear your characters will be receiving.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have active dnd beyond and discord accounts. Since this will be a live game players should also have a microphone to be actively involved.

What Samhein brings to the table

While I am new to voices I do try to bring different voices to my characters to add a little more fun to the game. I am also a GM who likes the rule of cool so if you want to do a somersault of the back of a horse and shoot your arrow at the dragon I am happy to try to make it happen.

Safety

How Samhein creates a safe table

My job as the DM is to ensure we all have fun and that means having an open door policy. We will be using discord for this adventure (an app that most people in the gaming world keep open 24/7 and I am no different to that). If you have any problems with players, content, or even me please feel free to reach out. I will also be sending out a lines and veils document before session 0 to ensure that past experiences do not accidentally get brought up, this will also be covered with the group during session 0 in an effort to minimize bringing up the past.
