About the adventure
Escape from Undergarden is - after a few sessions of setup, a fey themed hexcrawl adventure with an overarching puzzle to escape from a magical underground forest. Estimated at 8-10 sessions, longer if you want to explore thoroughly. The adventure uses the 5.5/2024 version of the rules, and is for Character Levels 5 to 8. You'll have powerful characters for the level range, with a bonus feat and plenty of magic items. The adventure caters to a very wide array of niche builds and options like Portal Hunting and Vampire Slaying can be swapped in on request to tailor the adventure for the group.

About me
I've loved telling stories for as long as I can remember, and got my first TTRPG experience playing MERP with my father and brother at a single digit age. At university, I played at but mostly ran for the Games Society. Every player who turned up had to be placed at a table, so these games were always oversubscribed, with the largest being 12 players. I ran mostly Call of Cthulhu, but also some D&D 3.5, and homebrew systems. One campaign was played in pure theatre-of-the-mind, with no mechanics, even dispensing with dice rolls to keep things moving with so many players. For years after that, I would run games with friends trying to perfect a homebrew system, before eventually being drawn into 5e by the Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica. My first 5e campaign was run at my workplace and helped build bridges between departments there, it was well loved and brought to an end by Covid. I promptly discovered VTTs, used them to reconnect with old friends, and now run 2 simultaneous casual groups with friends and friends of friends around the world. I also ran a OneD&D playtest campaign with players from different places. I'd like to run some non-D&D systems, mostly Fabula Ultima and the FFXIVTTRPG. Taking the step to doing this for a living is long overdue.

Creating your character
Characters will start at Level 5 with a Bonus First Level Feat. We will build characters together at session 0, Premade characters are avilalble, you are welcome to build ahead of time, I am happy to schedule extra time to help late joiners build before their first session. Everything you need is available on the Foundry Server. You can build your character in Foundry, import one from D&D Beyond or select a Premade Character. My curated Player Options Catalogue brings together the best of 5e and 5.5e with Backward Compatible options updated and enhanced for the current rules and selected 3rd party sources to cater for any character fantasy, but you are welcome to bring in options from outside. Whatever you want to play, I will work with you to make it work. A wide array of powerful items (most Uncommons and selected Rares) are available to start with and listed on the Foundry Server.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Links to the Discord Server and Foundry World will be sent when you sign up. Discord is for voice chat and works in a web browser or by downloaded app, and can be run on a PC or Mobile Device. You will need a Microphone to use it on your PC. Foundry is where the game is actually played, you will need to make a free account on the Forge Hosting Platform. It runs in a browser and works best on a Desktop or Laptop PC, however we are experimenting with a module that should make it playable on a Tablet or a high end Mobile Phone. You will not need a D&D Beyond account, to own any rulebooks or physical dice. Everything you need is in Foundry for you to find.

How Dax creates a safe table
Lines and Veils are handled on Discord, with a private channel that only I and those signed up to play with you can see. The Foundry World has a fully anonymous X-Card button, I don't get to know who pressed it. There is also a button to Raise Your Hand which has a wide range of uses both safety and otherwise. At Session 0 we'll get to know each other a bit as people, make sure the Lines and Veils list is complete, we'll talk about everyone's wishes for the adventure and arrive together at the tone we're going for. Everyone will have an opportunity to make requests and raise any other topics that are important to them. I am also available to talk privately about any concerns that you may have.
