About the adventure

The campaign begins with the players arriving in Elk City, drawn by rumors of unusual occurrences and unexplained phenomena. They might be a group of paranormal investigators, journalists, or simply curious outsiders. Upon their arrival, they find a town shrouded in mystery, with locals reluctant to speak about the strange happenings that plague the area. Nestled within the dense forests of the Rocky Mountains, Elk City is a small town shrouded in mystery and surrounded by untamed wilderness. As the sun sets behind the rugged peaks, casting long shadows over the landscape, the town takes on an eerie and atmospheric quality. The main thoroughfare, lined with quaint storefronts and cozy cabins, winds its way through the heart of town, while narrow dirt paths lead off into the surrounding forests, beckoning adventurers and thrill-seekers to explore the unknown. Towering evergreen trees loom overhead, their branches swaying in the gentle breeze, while the distant call of wildlife echoes through the woods. Despite its picturesque façade, Elk City harbors dark secrets beneath the surface. Whispers of strange sightings and unexplained phenomena abound among the locals, passed down through generations like ghost stories around a campfire. Tales of cryptids lurking in the shadows, ancient curses that haunt the land, and unsolved mysteries that defy rational explanation are woven into the fabric of the town's history. The townsfolk, though friendly and welcoming, carry an air of wariness tinged with superstition, their eyes darting nervously at the slightest rustle in the underbrush. They speak in hushed tones of the things that go bump in the night, of the dangers that lurk beyond the safety of the town's borders. But amidst the darkness, there is also beauty to be found in Elk City. Majestic waterfalls cascade down rocky cliffs, their crystalline waters shimmering in the sunlight. Glowing fireflies dance among the wildflowers that carpet the forest floor, casting an enchanting glow over the landscape. As the players arrive in Elk City, drawn by rumors of strange occurrences and unsolved mysteries, they find themselves immersed in a world where reality blurs with legend, and every shadow hides a new adventure waiting to be uncovered.

About me

I've been playing TTRPGs and roleplaying in general for many years, so it's safe to say I've learned a great deal. I am fun-centered, story driven, and a firm believer in the rule of cool. I will always take the players' preferences for combat, exploration, and roleplaying into account but above all I want to tell a story with you. I run predominantly homebrew campaigns and I can help balance ideas for custom content as well! Feel free to ask away for any ideas or games you'd like to play, because I'm open to anything.

Character creation

Creating your character

If you aren't familiar with the Candela Obscura/Illuminated worlds system, I will bring you up to date upon signup for free! Foundry VTT has everything loaded into it already so character creation is simple.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I highly recommend a webcam, especially in this game, where your roleplaying and interpersonal interactions may have a more prominent effect on the game. It is not needed, however. Microphone, discord, and a web browser are all you need. Rules I can explain on the way and during session 0. Characters don't need to be made before signup.

What Cabe brings to the table

I will bring a simple VTT experience with Foundry, and the entirety of the rules. The campaign is completely homebrewed and very receptive to player character storylines. Ambience and sound effects will be implemented. While I do know the rules, I'm here to have fun with you all, so finding creative ways to deal with situations is my main focus. Rule of cool always.
