About the adventure
Your city stands above a blighted landscape, a Tower of concrete, steel, and glass. At the top, a city of the elite, it’s golden spires and opulent gardens floating amid the clouds. Descending below, neighbourhoods of decreasing grandeur and increasing poverty and pollution, each built one atop the other. And at the bottom, The Stygian Depths, haunting caverns said to stretch all the way down the underworld, where criminals go to hide and the desperate go to die. But hope survives here, nonetheless, nurtured by those who hold their communities together, and those who fight for a better tomorrow. The Tower is cracking… Become a Gutterpunk and explore this broken world from the bottom up, as you shatter the weight of oppression and drag your resistance all the way to the top. Themes: ♦️ Survive the Dystopia: The Tower is not a kind place. It’s dirty, polluted and corrupted. Clean water can be hard to come by. Decent food even more so. Automata designed as enforcers patrol the streets, wielded by the wealthy to control everyone beneath them. ♦️ Fight for What Matters: Protect what matters to you, as the world will take everything if given the chance. Being a gutterpunk means you break the rules to make tomorrow better, no holds barred. ♦️ Find the Beauty in the Grime: Build relationships. Develop communities. Inspire Hope. ♦️ And Go Big or Go Home: Gutterpunk Rhapsody is about big emotions and over-the-top action. Embrace the melodrama. Be the wrecking ball the city needs. Gutterpunk Rhapsody is Inspired by Arcane, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Gachiakuta, Final Fantasy VII, Dishonoured, and Spire: The City Must Fall RPG.

About me
Hi there, I'm Casey. If you enjoy mystery, a little horror, and a focus on roleplay and engagement, one of my games might be for you. I've been involved in this awesome hobby since the early nineties and have yet to grow tired of it. In that time, I've moved away from crunchy, tactical games to character focused stories, because for me, it's best when everyone can collaborate and 'play to see what happens.' Whether it's a long running game, like our 4.5 year Vampire campaign that spanned centuries, taking players from freshly embraced noobs to infamous elders, or a one-shot of Call of Cthulhu designed to introduce new players to the game, your input as players is what keeps things interesting and engaging for everyone. And connecting with the wide and diverse players that have joined my games makes it all that much better! 🎲 If you see a game that interests you, but the time slot doesn't work, message me. I might be able to accommodate. 🎲

Creating your character
We'll build characters together during Session 0. Here’s what you need to know: ♦️ As a Highborne, you will have no access to your previous wealth. You’ve fallen to the bottom of the food chain for whatever reason. ♦️ The Wildborne may find themselves at odds with the city and you may not have many opportunities to make use of your abilities. Many are mutated by alchemical waste or worse. ♦️ Orderborne primarily come from the gangs that rule over the various neighborhoods of the Tower. You’ll likely still belong to such a gang and derive contacts, maybe even family, from it. ♦️ A substance called Martyr’s Blood is the source of all magic, but it comes with drawbacks. It is inherently unstable and can cause mutations, combustion, and other undesirable effects. ♦️ Magic use in the Tower takes the form of Alchemical Science. Clockwork and gadgets replace magic items; armour and weapons are scrappy and sourced from industrial equipment or welded-together garbage. Alchemical concoctions reinforce leather and are bottled as potions. Many things so treated glow with a chemical light. ♦️ The people of the tower long ago abandoned their gods. But some still hold to the old ways and shrines can be found hidden in quiet corners and back alleyways. The Seraph, though, sometimes hear whispers of these old gods. And the use of Martyr’s Blood makes those whispers louder. This doesn’t come without a price. Over time, the Blood warps the Seraph, transforming them into something…other.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need: ♦️ A quiet place to play, a mic and headphones. ♦️ A Discord account. I'll send you a link when you join.
What Casey brings to the table
♦️ During Session 0, we'll work together to flesh out the setting and build characters with strong ties to each other and the Tower. ♦️ Daggerheart is a collaborative game. You'll have plenty of opportunities to contribute to the narrative and steer the story in directions you are most interested in. ♦️ Throughout the campaign, you are free to message me on Discord at anytime to discuss the game, your character, or any concerns you might have. ♦️ It's important to me to provide a safe and inclusive game. I'm always available to address any problems that might arise.
Homebrew rules
Distinct Mechanics: ♦️ Bloodbinding: A Downtime move that allows gutterpunks to manifest increased effects once per session. ♦️ Punk-Luck: Once per session, spend a Hope to declare a Punk-Luck move. This allows a gutterpunk to introduce something into the narrative and directly change the course of the story in a minor way. Spend more hope for bigger changes.
