About the adventure
The year is 2524. It's been a year since the hordes of Chaos came pouring down from whichever hell they come from to lay waste to the lands of man. But they failed. Their leader, Archaon, was slain by the boy Valten. Everyone expected the boy to become emperor but he was mysteriously slain. But that is old history to most people. For them, what really matters is their day to day life. Their own ambitions and lives are much more important than what happened exactly. Your character is one of those people. Someone who fought in the north. Blooded by the horrors of chaos. And now, filled with ambition. But the Empire isn’t a place for someone with ambition but without the right birth. There however is a place where someone with ambition in their heart, but without the desire to give themselves over to the darkness, can thrive. To the southeast lie the Border Princes. A collection of tiny principalities ruled over by constantly changing warlords. Someone with ambition, strength, and just a bit of cunning can become one of these warlords and make themselves a king. Or, if they prefer not to be the one who loses their head the next time something happens, their ‘advisor’. This game will be about someone like that. Someone who travels to the Border Princes, looking to make their fortune. This character can be anyone, from a brave knight to a humble servant. Perhaps even a wizard or someone who isn’t even a human being. A halfling or a dwarf. Or, shockingly enough, an elf or Bretonnian. It is a polyglot place after all. We will start with your character arriving in one of these principalities and will be thrown into the kind of situation that can end up with them on a wobbly throne. Or dead in a ditch, of course.

About me
Hi! I'm Dirk and I've been GM-ing for around twenty-five years by now and like to think that I've gotten fairly good at it. Like many people, I started playing Dungeons and Dragons (3.0 back then. Just in time for the complains about 3.5. Yes, edition wars are that old). Fairly quickly, I found that some stories are better told with other systems and so, I built up a slightly oversized collection of books and experience with a plethora of systems. I've ran games for groups of friends and also like to run games at conventions and the like. I find that every story should be tailored to the people at the table, whether it's virtual or an actual one. Aside from games, I enjoy painting miniatures, literature, and, of course, cooking and baking. Those however are a little less relevant for online gaming.

Creating your character
Characters will be created as normal, but they will be in their second career to reflect that they are more experienced and to give them more of a chance.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be writing on a special-made Discord server that also includes a dice roller and where we can share all necessary information, from character sheets to extra rules and backstory elements.
What Dirk brings to the table
The focus of this roleplay will be how a character tries to find their own path in the chaotic Border Princes. There will of course be combat, but combat is dangerous and can quickly lead to disaster, so a more clever approach tends to be more effective. There will of course be plenty of intrigue going on as well.

How Dirk creates a safe table
We will discuss in advance whether there are any topics that are to be avoided or treaded lightly around. We will also use X-cards to immediately stop anything that moves into an unwanted direction.
