About the adventure

Set after The Hobbit and before Lord of the Rings, you are in Eriador, the North West of Middle Earth between the Misty Mountains to the east, and the realm of Lindon to the west. The Shadow of Sauron grows, and while the War of the Ring is far off in the future, dangers are aplenty. Ruffians prowl the roads, orcs and trolls grow in number, and even the beasts of the land act strangely. The Wise and Good of the land seek the bravest among the Free Peoples to help hold back the growing Shadow. Elves, Dwarves, Men, and even Hobbits, all could have a part to play here. Join them, and help recover what was lost, and protect the people of Middle Earth. Taking place in Middle Earth, it uses an altered 5E system. You will all be able to travel about the lands of Eriador and more, and use new extra systems in this like changes to Journeys, Councils, Fellowship and more.

About me

I have loved DND since I first started playing some years ago. I've been a player for a long time, and have DM'ed off and on. I love all the stories we can tell with DND, and the cooperative story telling DND offers is amazing to me. In spare time I cuddle with my adorable kitty, and play Baldur's Gate. My day job is the gloriously dull work of retail.

Character creation

Creating your character

All players will need to choose a 'culture' from the core books I own. You can select an Elf from Lindon, a Hobbit of the Shire, a Dwarf of Durin's Folk, a Human of Bree, Beornings, Wood Elves, High Elves, Woodsmen, a Barding (person of Dale/Laketown), or a Ranger of the North. You will be level 1, and will need a reason why you'd leave your comfortable life and join the fight against Shadow in Eriador. We will use an enhanced Standard Array of 17, 15, 13, 12, 10 and 8 to do stats, or roll depending on what the party wants.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need accounts on Discord and Roll20 and a decent internet and microphone

What Dylan brings to the table

I always prioritize player choices and fun. If you're not having fun, I'm not either. I also love Middle Earth so want to provide as authentic an experience as I can. I also do my best to provide voices and provide music as well. With combat I encourage players to think outside the box, and am willing to change rules if it makes players happy.

Homebrew rules

As this is a newer system, I'm still looking into it. That being said I am happy to use or discuss homebrew rules with anyone who has an idea.

Safety

How Dylan creates a safe table

I will have a session zero with everyone to make sure we set ground rules. We will have lists of veils and lines and anyone at any time, via DM or in chat, can put in 'X' if it's too much for anyone. Can be public or private, whatever the player wishes.
