About the adventure

For ten thousand years, the Guildpact shaped life on Ravnica. Ten guilds divided the responsibilities, ambitions, and excesses of a world-spanning city between them. The Azorius made the laws, the Boros enforced them, the Golgari tended what lay beneath, and the other guilds carved out their own places within the great machine. Guilds warred, schemed, fractured, and rebuilt, but the system endured. Even when the Guildpact itself failed, the idea of the Ten remained. On Ravnica, guilds are more than institutions—they are identities. Or, at least, they were. Now, Ravnica finds itself at the threshold of something new. The Multiverse has changed, and the walls that once separated Ravnica from distant planes have begun to feel remarkably thin. Foreign ideas, strange magics, new peoples, and unfamiliar philosophies have found their way into the city, while Ravnicans themselves have begun to question traditions once considered immutable. Old rivalries suddenly seem less important. Ancient alliances no longer make sense. And within the guilds, even their most celebrated luminaries have begun forming friendships, loyalties, and conspiracies that cross lines drawn thousands of years ago. For some, this is an opportunity. For others, it is an existential threat. The ideals upon which the guilds were founded are beginning to buckle beneath the weight of interplanar change, and whispers are spreading that perhaps Ravnica no longer needs ten guilds—or perhaps it needs more. New movements are forming in taverns, laboratories, legion barracks, forgotten undercity temples, and the halls of power. Former enemies find themselves standing shoulder to shoulder, while old comrades discover that the symbols on their uniforms no longer mean what they once did. The question is no longer simply which guild will triumph over another, but whether the guilds themselves will survive the coming age. And into this uncertainty step a handful of individuals whose loyalties may prove just as complicated as Ravnica's own. At first, the changes may seem small: an unlikely meeting, a guildmaster acting against tradition, a familiar face wearing unfamiliar colors. But follow those threads far enough, and they may reveal something much larger taking shape beneath the streets of the Tenth District. The old Ravnica is dying. What replaces it may depend on who is willing to let it go—and who is willing to kill to keep it alive.

About me

I'm a storyteller at heart—not just as a Dungeon Master, but as a writer, creator, worldbuilder, and actor. I'm the kind of DM who cares more about weaving a compelling story and creating a memorable experience than obsessing over every rule. In my experience as a Dungeon Master—which is considerable, as I've been running games since the 10th grade—roleplaying is about escapism and enjoyment far more than it is about the numbers on a character sheet. That's the philosophy behind every game I run. I build my campaigns around your characters' goals, desires, and personalities. I want my players to bring the world I've created to life, making choices that have meaningful consequences for both the story and their characters' lives. Above all, I want everyone to leave the table feeling satisfied, delighted, and eager to discover what happens next.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during out first session, just as it would if we were all able to sit around a table together. Starting level will be lvl 3. I'm pretty open in regards to what books or open source stuff you want to use to create a character, but ideally, players handbook and Ravnica: City of Guilds are the resources you want to use to begin with. Otherwise, we can always discuss options and things you want to include in your character. I'm more about rule of cool than rules as written, so if your ideas aren't overly busted, we can work it in!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will play on Roll20 and speak over Discord. So have those installed and ready to go when we start.

What Andrew Krosofsky brings to the table

Rule of cool will likely dominate this game, so bear that in mind. I will be doing voices. It's my thing and I think it helps to engage players. We're here to have fun and immerse ourselves in the rich world that is Ravnica, so that's what you should expect. I'm not hard-nosed about rules, I want us all to enjoy our time.

Homebrew rules

20s are always awesome, even on skills. So if you roll particularly well, I will make it cool. Conversely, 1s are always failures, even on skills. But even that can be entertaining for everyone...not necessarily fatal. I will also give out disadvantage or advantage depending on the situation, I think it helps make the game that much more interesting. And stellar roleplay will always be rewarded.

Safety

How Andrew Krosofsky creates a safe table

I will be sending a link to our Lines and Veils Doc in session 0 so that all players can indicate what makes them uncomfortable before we even play. We can discuss these safeties in session 0 as a group or if people have concerns and don't want to discuss them aloud, they can message me separately. X cards will be digital, send in chat, I'll keep a close eye on it to make sure everyone feels safe. That said, Ravnica is a place where violence has and continues to occur, as you will see in the content warnings, so if it's not for you, that's fine, but just knowing going in. I will do my level best to make sure everyone has fun and feels safe, so we'll hash it all out session 0 to make sure that's the case. And also, if anyone is ever feeling uncomfortable, i'm approachable and we can always talk so that lines and veils are maintained.
