About the adventure
Broken Sword Tavern STREAMING — THIS GAME IS STREAMED ON TWITCH https://www.twitch.tv/jeremydming OPEN DICE. REAL CONSEQUENCES. All DM dice rolls are made completely in the open. What the dice say is what happens. The dice giveth and the dice take away! It's All About The LOOT! Bringing the power back to power fantasy! Treasure hoards are proper hoards, questgivers offer rewards that strongly motivate the party, and when you crack open the chest at the end of a dungeon, there's a joyous celebration of loot! THERE WILL BE LOOT! MORE THAN A GAME I've been running tabletop RPGs for 35+ years, creating adventures since 1989. If you're looking for a campaign where your character is more than a collection of numbers on a character sheet. Don't just take my word for it! The players of my many campaigns are in a discord community, you're welcome to come ask them about my DMing style and their experiences! • 8 ongoing campaigns currently running • Every campaign started at Level 1 • Most groups have progressed to Level 8+ • One campaign has reached Level 17 Here are some examples: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmc9i8m66002jvde0glwqdjf4 https://startplaying.games/adventure/cl40exvm78uf7bopk9vrk0qc8 https://startplaying.games/adventure/cm3lvyif700m47wxqdyr3z7xf This campaign is starting at level 3 with standard starting equipment with one uncommon magical item. Meet the Game Master
About me
Meet Your Dungeon Master You’re not just joining a D&D game. You’re joining a campaign built by a Dungeon Master who has been creating adventures for more than 35 years. I started playing D&D in 1989 and have been running games continuously since 1990. I’ve experienced every edition of Dungeons & Dragons, from 1st Edition through the current 5th Edition, and have guided hundreds of players through adventures ranging from classic dungeon crawls to epic, high-level campaigns. And I’m still doing it every week. Currently, I run 8 ongoing campaigns. Five of those campaigns have reached level 8 or higher, with one currently at level 19. Every one of these campaigns began at level 1. That means I don’t just talk about long-term campaigns—I run them. What does that experience mean for you? It means you can sit down, roll your dice, and trust that the game is prepared, the story is moving, and your character matters. Your Story. Your Character. Your World. My campaigns are built around the characters who play them. Your backstory isn’t just something I read during Session Zero and forget. I use it to create storylines, NPCs, conflicts, rewards, and opportunities specifically designed for your character. Your decisions have consequences. Your victories change the world. Your failures can create entirely new stories. At my table, you aren’t following a predetermined script. You’re helping create the story. What You Get at My Table • 35+ years of Dungeon Master experience • 5-star-rated professional DM • 8 active long-term campaigns • Proven experience taking characters from level 1 into high-level play • Consistent weekly sessions • Professional preparation for every game • A living homebrew world developed continuously since 1994 • Personalized character storylines integrated into the campaign • High-quality maps, tokens, artwork, music, and handouts • Compendium sharing for supported content • One-on-one Session Zero assistance • An exclusive Discord community for lore, announcements, and between-session interaction • Long-term campaigns designed to grow from low-level adventurers into powerful heroes A Campaign That Grows With You I specialize in long-term campaigns. Rather than constantly starting over with new characters and new groups, my goal is to take characters on a journey. You’ll watch them grow from inexperienced adventurers into heroes whose names can become part of the history of the world. I currently have five campaigns at level 8 or higher, including one at level 19. These campaigns started at level 1 and have continued because the players want to keep playing their characters and see where their stories lead. The world grows with them. Kingdoms can rise and fall. Alliances can change. Villains can return. Player decisions can permanently alter locations, factions, and future adventures. That continuity is one of the things that makes a long-running campaign special—and it’s something I’ve been building for decades. Professional Preparation. Personal Experience. I continually invest in premium maps, artwork, digital tools, music, tokens, and other resources to make each session feel like a complete adventure. You shouldn’t have to worry about whether the DM prepared for tonight. I do. My job is to create the world, prepare the adventure, manage the encounters, and keep the story moving so you can concentrate on the part that matters most: Being your character. Whether you’re an experienced player looking for a serious long-term campaign or someone completely new to D&D, you’ll have a DM who is invested in making sure you have a great experience at the table. 35+ years of experience. 8 active campaigns. 5 campaigns at level 8+. A level 19 campaign. Hundreds of players. A living world. Your story. Let’s create a legend together.

Creating your character
Session Zero I believe every great campaign starts with a strong Session Zero. Rather than spending game night creating characters, Session Zero will be scheduled during the days leading up to the campaign whenever possible. If you join a few days before the first session, we'll use that time to meet, discuss your character concept, and create your character together using D&D Beyond. This helps ensure that everyone is ready to jump straight into the adventure when Session One begins. If you already have a character, we'll review it together to make sure it fits naturally into the world of Vhalstaug, the campaign's themes, and the rest of the party. During Session Zero we'll also discuss table expectations, playstyle, scheduling, safety tools, house rules, and answer any questions you may have. It's a chance for everyone to get to know one another, collaborate on character connections, and ensure we're all on the same page before the adventure begins. My goal is simple: when Session One starts, you're already invested in your character, connected to the world, and ready to begin an unforgettable adventure.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Platform & Table Expectations Platform: Roll20 will be our primary virtual tabletop. If the group prefers another platform, we're happy to discuss alternatives during Session Zero. Voice & Video: A microphone is required for all players. A webcam is optional but always appreciated, as it helps create a more engaging table experience. Dice: You're welcome to roll physical dice or use Roll20's integrated dice roller. If you choose to roll physical dice, we simply ask that everyone respects the honor system—no fudging rolls! The best stories often come from spectacular failures. Character Creation: Characters will be created using D&D Beyond before the campaign begins. I'll work with each player to ensure your character fits naturally into the world and has meaningful connections to the story. Streaming: I occasionally stream my games. If this campaign is streamed, every player must give their consent. If even one player prefers not to be on stream, the game will not be streamed. Creating a comfortable and enjoyable environment for everyone always comes first.

How JeremyDMing creates a safe table
Safety at the Table My goal is to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable, respected, and able to enjoy the adventure. While Vhalstaug explores themes such as horror, mystery, violence, and moral conflict, the well-being of my players will always come before the game. If at any point something makes you uncomfortable, you never need to explain yourself in the moment. We have several simple ways to communicate during the game. Direct Message If you'd rather communicate privately, you can send me a direct message at any time. If something needs to change, we'll adjust the scene and continue without drawing unnecessary attention to the situation. Hand Signals (When Using a Webcam) If you're using a webcam, simple hand gestures provide a quick, silent way to communicate. 🟢 Thumbs Up – Everything is good. You're enjoying the scene and are comfortable continuing. 🟡 Flat Hand – Please slow down or check in. You're still okay, but you'd like the pacing or intensity adjusted. 🔴 Raised Hand – Stop the current scene immediately. We'll pause, make any necessary adjustments, and continue only when everyone is comfortable. X, N, & O System Players are also welcome to use the X, N, and O signals in chat or verbally at any time. ❌ X – Stop. The current content should end immediately or be skipped with no questions asked. ⚠️ N – Nudging a boundary. Please reduce the intensity, change direction, or fade to black. ⭕ O – Everything is okay. You're comfortable with the current scene and happy to continue. Safety tools are available to everyone, at any time, for any reason. There is never any expectation that you justify their use. Above all else, I want this to be a table where everyone feels welcome, respected, and excited to return each week. Great adventures are built on trust, communication, and having fun together.
