Islands lush with jungles teeming with resources and empty temples filled with treasures. They found no people. Then came THE SCOURGE. A terrifying scream echoed across the sea heralding the undead. Boated with seawater, rotted to the bone, and twisted by foul magic they crawled from beneath the black waves to consume the living. Whole settlements were lost to the nightmare. Then, the wonders of 𝓐𝓢𝓗 were discovered. Survivors fortified and more came from across the sea. Now a new status quo stands in the Caribbean as opportunity for wealth and fame presents itself to those who can take it. --- PIRATE BORG is a rules-light game set in an alternate version of the Golden Age of Piracy that's rife with magic, monsters, and fouler things still. In this open-world campaign, you'll be part of a rum-soaked pirate crew trying to carve out your place in a cursed world. ⚫ A hex-crawl based open world filled with danger and riches. ⚫ Exciting naval combat aboard your very Pirate vessel. ⚫ Plunder, pillage, gamble, and drink! ⚫ Meet famous historical and fictional pirates, privateers, and legends of the seas! ⚫ Cross swords with the undead, fellow pirates, creatures from the deep, and discover a weird world in a black comedy on the high seas! ___ While the world and the characters within it may be dark, this is a world filled with adventure and the absurd. It may be the worst day of your character's lives, but it should never be for you or the other players at the table. Hey y'all, I'm Chris. I'm a late 30-something Game Master from and currently living on the edge of Hillbilly Nation in the state of Kentucky. For a little north of the past 20 years I've usually been actively running, or thinking about running, some sort of tabletop roleplaying game. Creating your character
This will include an overview of how PIRATE BORG works as a system -- including how the randomized character creation system works. If you want to have an image of your character ready beforehand, that would be great. Character creation will be handled at the top of our Session 0. Pirate Borg is a super-easy lightweight game, so we should be able to begin our campaign the same day that we meet!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a free Discord account, a microphone, and a headset (certain earbuds like Apple Earpods may also work). A desktop computer is also recommended but many laptop models are more than suitable for this session. - Communication will be handled via a private Discord Server. - Books and character sheets are in PDF format. Rulebooks are hosted on non-downloadable Google Drive links. You'll also need an account on sqyre.app -- this is my hosting service for the Foundry Virtual Tabletop,

How WickerGames creates a safe table
I use a Lines and Veils document to establish safety lines, but I make sure to have a talk about safety before our first session properly begins. In-game, I have an X-card system that I encourage anyone who's uncomfortable to use. There are absolutely zero instances of sexual assault or sexual harassment permitted in my games.
