About the adventure

Adria has never lost a fleet. Storms split around its harbor, plague stops at the waterline, and for four hundred years no rival port has managed to explain why. Adria doesn't explain it either. Whatever keeps this city safe, it has been kept quietly, by every monarch in turn, for as long as there has been a city to keep. This spring the young queen did something none of her ancestors dared. By the end of the week, Adria will learn what that cost. You begin in the king's dungeon. No gear, no allies, and no idea why the crown put you and these strangers in the same cell block on the same night. Above you the castle is coming apart. What is outside the walls is an army, but it is what's inside them that should worry you. Getting out is only your first problem. This is horror that takes the horror seriously. Combat is dangerous and often avoidable; light, rest, and a working door are genuine resources; running is frequently the right call. Expect long stretches of investigation and conversation. The mystery is solvable and the clues are fair, I will never lock the plot behind a single dice roll, and the NPCs you meet want things, remember what you did to them, and can be reasoned with, lied to, or saved. What you decide will decide how this ends. Who this is for: players who prefer dread to power fantasy, questions to combat, and characters with something to lose. New to D&D? You're genuinely welcome! Starting with nothing but your character is the gentlest possible way to learn the 2024 rules, and I'll teach as we go. We open with a session zero, use lines and veils plus an X-card throughout, and I keep an eye on the spotlight so everyone gets scenes that are theirs. Content: imprisonment, disease, body horror, memory loss, and moral choices with no clean answer. No gore for its own sake, no sexual content, nothing involving children.

Character creation

Creating your character

Stats are decided through point buy. Starting level is 1 and we will be creating our characters on D&D Beyond. I will create a campaign there. We will also be using the extension "Beyond20" for connectivity between D&D Beyond and Roll 20. Session 0 is for character creation for those that haven't created a character before the session 0 started.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

1. Have a Discord account 2. Have a Roll 20 Account 3. Have a D&D Beyond Account Beyond 20 i can explain to each person personally as i understand it isn't the norm. I will have a discord server prepared.

What Pandora brings to the table

I own Kenku FM a music bot which i utilize for ambient music. I do my own character voices i change my voice depending on the character I'm speaking. I am a fan of the rule of cool. For me it basically works like this: Explain it well enough, and convince me and you shall be able to do it. Make it make sense and I make it happen.

Homebrew rules

Nat 20 punch up If in combat you roll a nat 20. Instead of just criting, you reroll the die and the higher the second roll is the more EXTRA (Additionally to the crit) damage you can do. Its something to spice up the nat 20s.

Safety

How Pandora creates a safe table

I keep my table safe through multiple things: 1. The session 0. We will obviously talk about redlines and safety tools. About what people are comfortable with and what not. I will also share my personal red lines document. 2. The safety tools. I use a dot system and a roll 20 extension. The dot system means if you feel slightly uncomfortable you send me a yellow dot, orange if you feel more uncomfortable and would like to move the scene along and lastly red dot means a break and me doing a checkup on the affected player. 3. I usually do one on one talks with players that are affected by a situation.
