About the adventure

You have been summoned to Tyr Tower for an interview with the heir to the Belmont fortune on Hubris Island. Will you choose to be a regular civilian or a hero? Will you be immune or not? Do you want a merciless, hardcore experience or a gentler one? Will you survive the old-school, feral zombie infestation? The first part of a lenghty scenario that will start in the Tyr Tower. Hundreds of apartments and their inhabitants are meticulously planned in advance for remarkable consistency and efficiency. Floor plans become accessible as the characters explore the tower, allowing them to see what they need to see in order to loot, plan, and immerse themselves properly. Horrific scenes unfold as the hell of the infestation is unleashed upon the hapless victims of this zombie apocalypse scenario, reminiscent of Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" with a touch of the "Dead Island" video games. By "old school," I mean there won't be any exploding mutant zombies or intelligent, titanic zombies. Zombies are categorized by their size and weight, along with a specific characteristic that determines whether they become feral or not. Children will die horribly, and you'll likely have to deal with zombie children, as well as a host of other situations that could arise during such events. In cases where a player makes a major mistake that results in their character's death, it will be possible to continue by creating another survivor in the tower, provided certain criteria are met to maintain the game's universe's consistency.

About me

I started playing Dungeons & Dragons with the second edition, then tried the third, 3.5, and 5th editions, but my favorite system is D20 Modern. I've run many games and have never heard my players complain. I focus on the experience, the players' expectations, and the narrative coherence well before strict adherence to the rules. I appreciate players expressing their expectations, preferences, and even criticisms, as my goal is to improve everyone's experience. Violence, profanity, horror, and the like are not problems.

Character creation

Creating your character

The characters will be created before the first session with my help. You will start at level 1. Characters can be created in any format as long as I can access your stats at each level change to update my notes. For characters creation you can use the core rulebook here: https://online.anyflip.com/lqark/skqs/mobile/index.html ,if you need any help contact me directly so I can help you set up.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need to join a Discord server, there you may want to use tupperbox or not. You'll need to answer a few questions before character creation.

What Thom Tseu brings to the table

Maps of the rooms visited will become available as you progress. Images of most of the characters encountered, as well as some events and locations, will be provided. There will be voice acting for some important moments. I embrace the Rule of Cool and Im not much of a stickler to the Rules as Written. I am personnaly a very open person. I worked as a barman and a bouncer in 2 gay bars for years. I have immense respect for all sexual orientations and I want to include everyone. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the characters I created, who represent human pettiness and its tendency towards hatred and discrimination in some cases. Since the events takes place in 1993, LGBTQIA+ concepts will be perceived differently, but I want to assure you that if there is any hostility towards these groups, it will be perpetrated by a few characters who will generally be seen as complete scumbags.

Homebrew rules

The D20 Modern wealth system will not be usefull in this game. Starting equipement will be discussed with me before the game starts. The GM's rolls will not be shown to the players. Microphones for the players are optional if they want to voice act their stuff.

How Thom Tseu creates a safe table

Problems concerning the posts, out of character exchanges or anything else can be discussed in a private chat with me or in the out of character chat depending on what the player sees fit. First and foremost, I want players to be clear and direct about any topics they might be sensitive to so I can advise them. This adventure is definitely not for those who don't want to be shocked.
