About the adventure

Curse of Strahd is one of the most beloved adventures ever written, and this is my own spin on it. The valley of Barovia is the one you may have heard about, the mist-locked land, the black castle on the crag, the devil who owns every road and every soul on it, but you won't be walking a path you've read about. Custom elements, reworked encounters and new threads mean that even veterans of Barovia will find themselves somewhere they don't recognize. This is gothic horror played straight. Expect dread over jump scares, cruelty that has a reason behind it, and a land that wears people down slowly. Barovia is beautiful and it is merciless, and the things that live here have had centuries to get good at what they do. There is hope in this valley, but it's scarce, it's fragile, and holding on to it will cost you. Above all, this is a character game. Barovia isn't a dungeon to be cleared: It's a place your character has to survive in, and horror only works when we care about who it's happening to. Expect long stretches of roleplay, talking your way past frightened villagers, deciding what you're willing to trade for help, watching the valley test what your character actually believes. Your backstory won't sit unused on your sheet; it comes with you through the mist. Combat is still very much part of this, and it matters. Fights here are dangerous and resources are thin. There's no shop around the corner and no comfortable long rest without something hunting you. Death is on the table. But this is not a meat grinder: I'd rather run one encounter that terrifies you than four that fill time. Who this is for: Players who enjoy slowburn tension, morally grey choices, and talking as much as rolling. New players are genuinely welcome, I'll help you with the rules, and no prior knowledge of the module is needed (if you do know it, please keep it to yourself). Content includes death, body horror and psychological dread; we'll run a session zero with safety tools and set our lines and veils before anything starts.

Character creation

Creating your character

Stats are decided through point buy. Starting level is 1 and we will be creating our characters on D&D Beyond. I will create a campaign there. We will also be using the extension "Beyond20" for connectivity between D&D Beyond and Roll 20. Session 0 is for character creation for those that haven't created a character before the session 0 started.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

1. Have a Discord account 2. Have a Roll 20 Account 3. Have a D&D Beyond Account Beyond 20 i can explain to each person personally as i understand it isn't the norm. I will have a discord server prepared.

What Pandora brings to the table

I own Kenku FM a music bot which i utilize for ambient music. I do my own character voices i change my voice depending on the character I'm speaking. I am a fan of the rule of cool. For me it basically works like this: Explain it well enough, and convince me and you shall be able to do it. Make it make sense and I make it happen.

Homebrew rules

Nat 20 punch up If in combat you roll a nat 20. Instead of just criting, you reroll the die and the higher the second roll is the more EXTRA (Additionally to the crit) damage you can do. Its something to spice up the nat 20s.

Safety

How Pandora creates a safe table

I keep my table safe through multiple things: 1. The session 0. We will obviously talk about redlines and safety tools. About what people are comfortable with and what not. I will also share my personal red lines document. 2. The safety tools. I use a dot system and a roll 20 extension. The dot system means if you feel slightly uncomfortable you send me a yellow dot, orange if you feel more uncomfortable and would like to move the scene along and lastly red dot means a break and me doing a checkup on the affected player. 3. I usually do one on one talks with players that are affected by a situation.
