About the adventure
Beneath its endless canopy, ancient magic lingers, forgotten paths shift, and strange creatures watch from the darkness. Chosen personally by King Emeris, your party has been entrusted with delivering a mysterious magical crate to the secluded village of Hush. Whatever rests inside is important enough that the King refuses to reveal its contents, even to those carrying it. The journey should be simple enough... right? --- This beginner-friendly one-shot is designed to introduce you to Daggerheart through collaborative storytelling, cinematic combat, and meaningful character moments. Joining this free One-Shot entitles you to a 30% discount on the first session of any paid campaign I will run in the future. Join the Discord for more information. :) Rather than using the official premade characters, we'll create your own hero together before the adventure begins, giving you a character that feels uniquely yours. No rulebook or prior experience is required. I’ll guide you through character creation and teach the system as we play! :) This game is perfect if you: • Have never played Daggerheart. • Are curious about the system. • Enjoy roleplay and collaborative storytelling. • Want a relaxed table where learning and experimentation are encouraged.

About me
Hi! I'm a relatively new GM, I've run games for friends and family in the past, but I'm now looking to branch out and start adventuring with intrepid strangers that are looking to learn, have fun and tell a story together! You can expect different campaigns, some laid back, roleplay-intensive and other combat-heavy.

Creating your character
Come with a rough idea, or nothing at all! Before the adventure begins, we'll build your character together, from your Heritage and Domains to your Experiences and personal motivations. You'll also receive a short primer on the world to help inspire your backstory, but don't worry about writing pages of lore. A single idea that you find exciting is more than enough, and we'll develop it together during our Session 0.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please have Discord (with a microphone) and a free Alchemy account before the session starts. If you've never used Alchemy before, don't worry! We'll walk through everything together during Session 0, so no prior experience is required.
What Seb brings to the table
My goal is to make your first Daggerheart session feel cinematic, welcoming and memorable. You can expect: • Guided character creation • Beginner-friendly rules explanations • Ambient music and sound effects • Custom Alchemy setup • NPC voices (some better than others!) • Reference sheets for Hope, Fear and core mechanics • A collaborative table where creativity is rewarded over perfect rules knowledge.
Homebrew rules
The Quickstart Adventure has been slightly homebrewed to allow for more interactive storytelling, nothing too major, just a few tweaks here and there. :) The official starter adventure uses premade characters. Instead, we'll create original characters together before we begin. I believe players connect more deeply with heroes they've imagined themselves, making the story more personal without changing the adventure's core experience. If you'd rather play one of the official premade characters, that's absolutely an option too.

How Seb creates a safe table
Before we begin, we'll run a brief Session 0 that includes Lines & Veils to ensure everyone is comfortable with the themes we'll explore. The Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist is also available on the Discord. During the session we will be using X-cards to mark any moments that players are uncomfortable with. They are anonymous, so never feel nervous about using them. While Messengers of Sablewood contains fantasy violence and some darker moments, it avoids graphic horror or extreme content. After the adventure, we'll spend a few minutes debriefing, sharing favorite moments and gathering feedback to make future games even better by using Stars and Wishes.
