About the adventure
Beneath its endless canopy, ancient magic lingers, forgotten paths shift, and strange creatures watch from the darkness. Chosen personally by King Emeris, your party has been entrusted with delivering a mysterious magical crate to the secluded village of Hush. Whatever rests inside is important enough that the King refuses to reveal its contents, even to those carrying it. The journey should be simple enough... right? --- π² ππ«π±π’π― ππ₯π’ ππππ©π’π΄π¬π¬π‘ Messengers of Sablewood is a complete beginner-friendly Daggerheart adventure built around exploration, roleplay, meaningful choices, and cinematic encounters. This isn't a tutorial disguised as a game. You'll learn Daggerheart naturally while actually playing it. No rulebook, system knowledge, or previous TTRPG experience is required. Iβll teach you everything you need as we play. π² βπ―π’ππ±π’ ππ¬π²π― ππ΄π« βπ’π―π¬ Rather than handing you a premade character, we'll create your own Daggerheart hero before the adventure begins. I'll guide you through the process, so don't worry if you've never made a character before. By the time we begin, you'll have a hero that feels like yours rather than someone else's character sheet. π―οΈ ππ¬π²π― π§π¬π²π―π«π’πΆ π‘π¬π’π°π«'π± π₯ππ³π’ π±π¬ π’π«π‘ π¦π« βπ²π°π₯. The Sablewood is the setting for my ongoing adventures and campaigns. After completing Messengers of Sablewood, you'll receive: β’ 30% off your first session in any future paid campaign I run β’ Early access to new campaign openings through my Discord β’ A place in the community if you'd like to keep adventuring with us If you find yourself wanting to know what else is hiding beneath the canopy, there will be considerably more Sablewood waiting for you. ----------------------------- This adventure is for you if... π± You've never played Daggerheart and want an easy way in. π² You're already familiar with TTRPGs but curious about Daggerheart. π You enjoy character-driven roleplay and collaborative storytelling. βοΈ You want combat where creativity and narrative choices matter as much as what's written on your sheet. π² You like strange fantasy worlds that reward curiosity and exploration. π«Ά You want a relaxed, welcoming table where asking questions, experimenting, and making spectacularly questionable decisions are all encouraged. No experience required. Bring yourself. We'll make the hero together.

About me
π π¬ππππ πΈπ I run games for immersion. For me, that means more than music, maps, character voices, or atmospheric scenes, although you can expect plenty of those. It means creating a table where your character feels like they genuinely belongs in the world and where the choices you make leave a mark on it. π² I care much more about your characters than protecting the world I've written. My prep exists to give you something interesting to interact with, not to funnel you toward a predetermined story. π§ I use music, ambience, sound effects, expressive NPCs, beautiful scenes and battlemaps to help the world disappear around the edges of the table. 𧩠I love weaving character backstories, relationships and decisions into the campaign. If you give me something to work with, I will use it. β¨ My favorite moments are when everyone forgets we're playing a game for a second.
View Profile βCharacter creation
Creating your character
Character creation will take place in Alchemy VTT before the session. During Session 0, we'll go over character concepts, party connections, campaign expectations, and any questions or concerns you might have. I'm also available through DM. Once you join the campaign, you'll also gain access to a Sablewood world wiki containing setting history, locations, cultures, customs, factions, and other lore you can use to inspire your character's backstory. You don't need to read everything, or anything, before creating your character. The wiki is there as a resource, not homework. If you'd rather discover the Sablewood entirely through play, that's just as valid.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need: β’ A Discord account β’ A working microphone β’ Access to a PC, laptop, or tablet β’ A free Alchemy VTT account β οΈ Please note: A phone is not sufficient for this One-Shot. Alchemy is not properly supported on mobile, and attempting to play from a phone creates major usability issues and requires significant workarounds. You must be able to join sessions using a PC, laptop, or tablet in order to participate.
What somehow brings to the table
My goal is to make your first Daggerheart session feel cinematic, welcoming and memorable. You can expect: β’ Guided character creation β’ Beginner-friendly rules explanations β’ Ambient music and sound effects β’ Custom Alchemy setup β’ NPC voices (some better than others!) β’ Reference sheets for Hope, Fear and core mechanics β’ A collaborative table where creativity is rewarded over perfect rules knowledge.
Homebrew rules
The Quickstart Adventure has been slightly homebrewed to allow for more interactive storytelling, nothing too major, just a few tweaks here and there. :) The official starter adventure uses premade characters. Instead, we'll create original characters together before we begin. I believe players connect more deeply with heroes they've imagined themselves, making the story more personal without changing the adventure's core experience. If you'd rather play one of the official premade characters, that's absolutely an option too.

How somehow creates a safe table
Before we begin, we'll run a brief free Session 0 that includes Lines & Veils to ensure everyone is comfortable with the themes we'll explore. The Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist is also available on the Discord. During the session we will be using X-cards to mark any moments that players are uncomfortable with. They are anonymous, so never feel nervous about using them. While Messengers of Sablewood contains fantasy violence and some darker moments, it avoids graphic horror or extreme content. After the adventure, we'll spend a few minutes debriefing, sharing favourite moments and gathering feedback to make future games even better by using Stars and Wishes.
