About the adventure
The town of Torch once thrived under the glow of its strange violet flame, a flame so intense it could melt skymetals and fuel the entire region’s prosperity. But it's gone out, and with its quenching come rumors, disappearances, and strange headaches. Torch’s flame can be rekindled, but only if someone is brave enough to venture into the dark and confront the Iron Gods themselves. You'll dive headfirst into a world of magic, lasers, and weird fantasy aliens with the Iron Gods Adventure Path. We'll be blasting baddies, searching strange ruins from beyond the stars, and brawling with the fanatics of the Technic League! Numeria has strange wizards and conniving thugs and corrupt rulers alongside mysteries unknown. What it needs is heroes. What it needs...is you. Your story starts in Torch. Where will you carry us?

About me
I'm Apollo, a game master with about 20 or so years of tabletop gaming experience, and I've spent the majority of those years as the GM. My tables are often places focused on story-telling, collaboration, and a fun atmosphere. I let the dice help us a tell a story and use the rules as a guide through our worlds. The experience at my table is sometimes scary, sometimes epic, sometimes silly, sometimes heartwarming, but, I think, always fun. I have played a wide variety of systems, including Shadowrun 4th Edition, Vampire: The Masquerade, Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 and 5e, Pathfinder 1e, and GURPS 4th edition. All told, I've been playing story driven games of all types (including electronic, board, table top, etc.) for about 30 years. My games have run the gambit from totally homebrewed settings with creative world building and development to running published adventures and campaigns. I have experience in, and enjoy, a wide array of genres, settings, forms, and styles. I've built and run games in varying granularity, but always with an eye to the characters achieving thrilling heroics and fun shenanigans. I find self-defined originality to be as cliche as a knight storming a castle and recognize the unpretentious fun present in both. I'm drawn to all elements of the medium, with a strong emphasis on characters, story, and the narrative experience. Having said that, I prefer my tables and my tales to have a destination or story in mind. I have run groups as small as two and as large as 12, but I tend to prefer 4 or 5 as the max these days. Additionally, I find that I don't mesh well with extreme optimizers and min-maxers. I'm not interested in solving the math of the game, I rather I'm interested in telling stories, compelling, comical, heroic, and, frankly, fun. Finally, outside of gaming and game mastering, I'm always looking to learn something new. I've two degrees, a Bachelor's and a Master's, and am a devout Christian. I'm interested in re-enchanting the world, and telling stories as part of my larger personal mission.

Creating your character
We will make characters as a group at Session 0 and work together to generate a team that works well together and fits the setting. Feel free to read the Paizo Player's Guide for Iron Gods. You can find it here: https://store.paizo.com/pathfinder/pathfinder-first-edition/adventure-paths/iron-gods/
What to expect
Preparing for the session
To prepare, players will need a free Discord account (and mic/speakers) for voice. A free Roll20 account for VTT, and that's about it. If you're like me, you may also want access to a set of classic polyhedral gaming dice. Additionally, if you want to use PathCompanion, you will need an account there (free): https://pathcompanion.com/.
What Apollo brings to the table
From me you can expect character voices (of varying quality, haha), Roll20 (plus) level details including dynamic lighting and maps, as well as tokens, and a discord space. My GM style is one that is consistent and fair when it comes to the application of the rules. If anything, I'm looking to have fun and tell a rich and engaging story. I like to also try to intertwine character backstories and bring the setting to life, so expect some collaborative storytelling elements as well.

How Apollo creates a safe table
At our Session 0, we will discuss the expectations for content, etc. and can use breakout rooms as necessary. Additionally, we will develop our considerations for post session debriefs. We'll also discuss whether we want to play with or without cameras and how everyone feels about the options. Additionally, we can add more safety tools if the players feel a need for more.
