About the adventure
This is an adapted module that I have modified to be more flexible with player levels, party sizes, and the whole array of familiarity with the game. New players will find this game fun and an easy point to start playing, while returning players, even those who have played with this module before, will find new challenges to test themselves against. Special care has been taken to make this very beginner friendly. This game involves the players reaching the entrance to a fortress and making their way inside, fighting or negotiating with the raiders who have set up home there. Once inside you'll have to sneak or fight your way past all sorts of enemies, breach through magical defenses, and deal with the threat that lies at the heart of the fortress. With bravery, cunning, and a little bit of luck, you will reclaim what was lost. The first session, called a Session 0, will involve character creation, setting game expectations, discussing optional homebrew rules and choices, and introducing the adventure. You will also be able to choose at that time if you wish to travel with an NPC (non-player character) ally for the adventure.

About me
Hi there! I'm Jayden, or Skulgren in other places online! I started running D&D about ten years ago for my wife and a good friend as a way to relax after college classes. Since then the group has grown and we have been playing every week (mostly!) together, spanning 3 campaigns spanning every tier of play. I've done charity work as a volunteer GM, and run a smaller game for some streamer friends. I love running games that feel alive, where the players feel like the main characters on a stage filled with other actors. I still run 5e and have been using both the 2014 and 2024 rule set. I've got a homebrew world most of my games have been set in, but I've also run games in the Forgotten Realms and in Eberron. I like to run games where the players' goals and ambitions drive the story, with long story arcs that tie into character motivations. All of my games are collaborative, between players and the GM, with just one main rule: "Don't be a dick to each other." Everything else is optional and would be decided as a group before we start playing. Most of my games tend to be a bit more serious in tone, where the choices the players make have real and lasting consequences for themselves and for the world as a whole. Everything responds to player actions, for good and for bad, in a way that makes sense for their skills, temperaments, and abilities. Villains adapt to tactics, allies remember kindness, and both victories and failures lead to new stories instead of dead ends.

Creating your character
Everything will be addressed during the session 0, but if you you are an experienced player and want to get a head-start here's the specifics: - starting array: 8 10 12 14 15 16 - Free origin feat at lvl 1. - All standard races and classes are approved. Homebrew options potentially accepted after review and discussion with me. - Prepare for lvl 3, but also be prepared for higher levels if the table decides on it. - +500 gp in addition to starting equipment - 1 common/uncommon magic item of your choice
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need access to Discord. Foundry will be used for the gameplay maps, and Discord will be used for the voice call/general chat. A link to both will be given when you sign up.
What Jayden brings to the table
I'll provide the maps, story, plot, music, and game knowledge. I'll also help create tokens of characters if given a piece of art you want turned into a token. I expect my players to either know or be learning their character's abilities, to play collaboratively and respectfully with the others (myself included!), and to not deliberately break the rules of the game.
Homebrew rules
There are several homebrew rules that we can use, all of which we will discuss during the session 0.
