About the adventure

Come play-by-post in a custom version of Pokémon's Unova region modeled after the USA in the 1920s! This will be a heavy battler with deep lore to dig into, mechanics to explore, roles to be played, and characters to fall in love with. You'll challenge all new gym leaders, fend off a new spin on Team Plasma, and much more all while socializing and solving mysteries in Roarin' Unova. Unova is a relatively new region, and it's access to the technology necessary to commercially capture and tame pokémon is even newer. Recently, things have changed and one man, the Professor Alden Hawthorne, has made all the arrangements necessary to host the Unova Region's first ever Pokémon League Championship. He has invited pokémon trainers from across the world to take part in what he claims will be the largest, grandest, and most spectacular Challenge in the tradition's long and storied history. Come play with us if you are new or a veteran to TTRPGs or even pokemon. I'm always happy to teach new players and even though the encounters in this game will be balanced to be difficult, failure is almost never a game over because it's more fun to turn it into the next story beat.

About me

Hello, I'm Jesse. I've been playing and Gamemastering for 20+ years. I started with D&D 3.0 and have grown with both the Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder environments. I love to explore other systems, as well, and have played more than my fair share of the White Wolf systems (especially, Vampire), The Mistborn Adventure Game and now the Cosmere RPG, Call of Cthulu, and the unofficial Pokemon TTRPGs (Pokemon: Tabletop United and Pokemon: Tabletop Adventures). I've stuck my nose in many others systems such as various GURPS and PbtA systems, Blades in the Dark, and many more large and small games. I haven't picked up a systems that I've been truly unfamiliar with in over a decade. My experience is a spectacular mix of in-person plays with local friends and congoers as well as remote plays via VTTs such as Roll20 and Foundry and Play-by-Post campaigns with online friends and strangers alike. I'm familiar with tools of all varieties and flexible enough to pick up all the new ones as they ship out. I'm always trying to find the right combination for me and my table. I want to add that professionally, my background is in both education and counseling and that you can be comfortable in knowing that I am a well-organized person with both the patience and skills to deescalate and find common ground. Finally, I just want to say that I'm incredibly passionate about TTRPGs and look forward to running some games, and telling some amazing stories with this community.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character generation will be done per chapter 2 of the core rulebook and prior to the campaign beginning. The discord server will be open immediately and have a channel on the subject where all the players can discuss pre-campaign relations and the general power level as well as any of the other character specific rule zero information.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need the entire suite of rulebooks and errata for Pokémon Tabletop United. These can be found on the PTU Blog, here: https://pokemontabletop.com/downloads-and-resources/ You'll need an account on Discord, Owlbear Rodeo, and a Google Drive.

What Jesse brings to the table

I will be aiming to bring you an exciting adventure that includes intense and strategic encounters, enticing and satisfying mysteries, and a laugh or two. Tone will range from lighthearted to grimdark, based on the groups' preferences and the difficulty can be molded to fit the groups' experiences. Expect for me to put the entirety of my experience GMing and writing into each post.

Homebrew rules

We'll be using most of the post development ruleset for this game including: Standardized Level Progression Catching After Combat Removed Base Stat Relations
