About the adventure

You are a werewolf: born half-flesh and half-spirit, a shapechanging predator that hunts across the twin worlds of Hisil —the world of Spirit— and Gurihal —the world of Flesh— yet forsaken by both. Unlike the folk stories, you are not cursed with lycanthropy, but blessed by Father Wolf and Mother Moon to hunt your sacred prey: animals, humans, spirits, even gods. You burn inside with a rage that threatens to devour your whole world in a red haze, but you temper your resolve with the only true rule of your existence: The Wolf Must Hunt. Like Kipling once wrote, "For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack". Your brothers and sisters in spirit beckon you to commune with them, to hunt with them, but the perils are many: the life of the Uratha is one of tooth and fang, of fire and blood. Even in the noisy streets of New Orleans there is prey to be had, and that could also mean "you". Resources, family, mates, territory: the city has something for everyone, even werewolves. Will you carve your place in the world, howl your claim to the moon and become your people's warden? The French Quarter of New Orleans will provide the canvas where this chronicle will play out. But you are not alone in this endeavor! As part of the bigger Chronicles of New Orleans, other groups of player characters will be active and playing on this shared world, as their triumphs and failures will bring consequences that spill over to the other games. As one of the Uratha, you are blessed by the Moon Goddess with an Auspice: a role to play in the hunt, and the powers to back it. You may also join one of the five Tribes of the Moon: large societies of hunters with their own spiritual rites and sacred preys, the better to align your righteous fury with their savage goals. Among the many threats your pack will face in this gothic version of New Orleans, you will: 🌙 Hunt down rogue spirits, shard-vermins and cruel humans who threaten the sanctity of your territory. 🌙 Play the game of the elders during Uratha gatherings: challenge other packs through controlled violence and cunning politics and lead the charge against the enemies of the People. 🌙 Curse your enemies with eldritch rituals that twist the spirit world and weaken your prey. 🌙 Explore the supernatural mysteries of the bayous, inhabited by both ancient spirits and new horrors born of toxic destruction. 🌙 Run away from the monsters that cannot be fought! From mad Godlings and silver-wearing monster hunters to the frenzied packs of the self-styled "Pure" werewolves. 🌙 Protect your loved ones from the depredations of other monsters and from your own, uncontrollable rage.

About me

Hi there! I’m Javi, and I’ve been running Dungeons & Dragons games and other TTRPGs since 1995. That year, I first discovered TTRPGs and instantly fell in love with the hobby. It quickly became a creative calling: building worlds, guiding adventurers, and crafting stories that leave lasting impressions on people. I care most about creating experiences that feel exciting and emotionally grounded. I want players to feel immersed in the story; this means they make meaningful choices and form real connections. My three decades of experience has given me the tools to create detailed, unique, and memorable gaming sessions with a sense of depth and agency. Whether the tone leans toward epic, tragic, or lighthearted, my focus is always on immersion, character-driven storytelling, and building a table where everyone feels safe and excited to roleplay. Over the years, I’ve run games for a wide range of players and personalities, and I’ve learned that the best sessions come from trust and communication. I love adapting to different playstyles and weaving each player’s imagination into the adventure. If you’re looking for a game that values story, character, and genuine collaboration, I'd love to see you at my table. The adventure’s waiting, and there’s always room for one more!

Character creation

Creating your character

During session 0 you will create your characters as part of a new pack of young werewolves. Alternatively, I will provide a host of pregenerated characters to choose from if you prefer a different option, or perhaps to use it as an inspiration fodder. Discussion of expectations, shared history together and interpersonal relationships is key here. We will focus on what tie the characters together, and what they want to accomplish as a pack. You don't need to know the rules of the game at first; I will guide you at every step of character creation. However, this is a game with deep lore and deep themes, so learning about both the system and the world of the Uratha will be incredibly rewarding if you choose to immerse yourself in this narrative experience. There is no rush, but the more you learn about the game, the more amazing things you will get to experience, I promise.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before you join the game, please make sure you have access to the following things: 🌙 Have a Discord Account- We'll use voice chat here to host the session. 🌙 Use a working microphone so we don't lose any swears, cheers, or battle cries. 🌙 A good pair of headphones so you don't miss a beat. 🌙 Cams are encouraged, yet optional! I'll be running my camera, as I'm comfortable and feel that it adds to player immersion. No pressure on your end, but would love to have you join. 🌙 Have a reliable computer and stable internet access so you can jump in to FoundryVTT or Owlbear Rodeo.

What Javi GZ brings to the table

I have decades running ttrpgs under my belt. I strive to bring the characters and the world to life. I do voices when I can and add my own spin to the world and the NPCs so they stand out. I have a deep level of knowledge and insight about the system and the world, having it run for years on end. Whether your main interest lies in roleplaying your character, exploring mysteries or engaging in occult intrigues, there should be a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy.

Safety

How Javi GZ creates a safe table

This chronicle will straddles the boundary between horror and urban fantasy, so dark, mature themes will come up on a fairly regular basis. That said, everyone deserves a table where they know the boundaries, understand the tone, and feel comfortable speaking up if something crosses a personal line. I keep safety tools simple, clear, and unobtrusive so the game stays immersive without becoming overly sanitized. ⭐ Session 0 Basics. Before we begin, we’ll briefly cover: - Tone (urban fantasy, horror, personal stakes—not gratuite violence for shock value). - Player expectations (team-focused, respectful, cooperative). - Campaign elements you can and cannot expect (e.g., PvP, romance, discrimination, etc). This takes just a few minutes and ensures we all start on the same page. 📄 Lines & Veils (Short Version). I provide a short list of common lines & veils in Discord. You can add anything privately or publicly. No essays, no deep dives—just clear boundaries. Lines = Not included. Veils = May appear, but only off-screen. This keeps the campaign intense without crossing genuine comfort limits. 🛑 X/N/O Tools (Simple & Quiet). I use a minimal, discreet system that does not interrupt the game: X = “Hard stop, skip this, move on.” N = “Not loving this direction, adjust a bit.” O = “All good, keep going.” You can message me directly or press the corresponding button straight on the VTT. You'll never need to explain why. 🧭 Respect at the Table. I expect everyone to: - Respect each other - Avoid PvP unless explicitly agreed - Keep character conflict in-character only - Use mature judgment when dealing with horror themes. ⚖️ Horror With Control. The Chronicles of New Orleans includes dread, danger, and intensity—but I do not use: - Graphic gore for shock value - Sexual violence (hard line) - Torture scenes - Misery for misery’s sake Horror should feel engaging and dramatic, not exploitative or uncomfortable. 💬 Debriefing. After each session, I open a quick check-in channel where you can: - Ask questions. - Clarify moments. - Mention anything that didn’t land right. - Celebrate cool character moments. It’s optional and brief—no group therapy, just honest communication.
