About me

Hi! My name is Cliff, but I usually go by OG or Oginme when online. I have been playing D&D since 1978 and ran my first home brewed adventures two years later when in college. Like many, I put the game aside for a few years while raising three wonderful children and focusing on a career. Then, my son asked for a 5e set for his birthday and wanted me to DM for a group of friends. The enjoyment and creativity came rushing back and I soon had two more home brewed campaigns going, all of which lasted for several years. In 2023, I left a highly demand/low reward job and started my journey as a professional Game Master. Over the years, I have worked in and with many industries, traveled the world doing product development, giving technical talks, and absorbed information in a variety of fields. These life experiences help to fuel my creativity and drive for self-improvement of my latest career choice. An avid reader throughout the years, I have studied many subjects and bring a well-rounded approach to my campaigns. In addition to running games, I raise LaMancha dairy goats, plant an ever-expanding garden, play guitar, cook, and continue to study and learn a variety of subjects.

Oginme will provide pre-made character sheets for you to choose from after you sign up or at the start of the game.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need accounts on Discord and Roll20 to play. Free accounts are all that is necessary. Please have a good working computer with reliable internet access. A dedicated microphone and headset is highly recommended.

What Oginme brings to the table

I bring extensive experience in immersive play and storytelling, with a focus on player choices driving the narrative. You can expect rewards, success, and ramifications from your actions. My non-player characters are voiced to help with immersion in addition to ambient music and sounds to accompany the action in the story. There will be handouts, maps, and artwork during the session to accompany the story and help detail the setting and action. In this basic introductory adventure, you will become exposed to the basic mechanics of this new RPG system while completing a story where you determine the outcome.

Safety

How Oginme creates a safe table

We will start the session with a brief discussion of Lines and Veils. Safety cards will be available on the VTT for use during play if there is something done or said which prompts the need to stop and discuss what has occurred. Following the session, we will discuss the events and cover any issues which may arise from the adventure and story. Please note that the Stormlight setting does have some themes of racism and classism. It will be up to us to explore those themes in a mature manner which respects the setting while also deepening our understanding of the nature of such attitudes.
