About the adventure

New Adventurers are needed for a quest into Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk! You and your fellow players are a group of adventures-for-hire and one of your frequent patrons has reached out for your help once again. Gundren Rockseeker has asked for your help to get a new business venture off the ground, and says it's "something big!". While you don't know what he's on about, he wants to start by having a wagon of supplies delivered to the small mining town of Phandalin... This campaign will take a group of heroes from Level 1 to Level 10 as they work through 8 chapters of roleplay, combat, and intrigue. The first 4 chapters are the updated version of the original 2014 starter adventure, Lost Mine Of Phandelver with the latter half continuing the story.

About me

Hello, my name is Mikey! I’m a passionate geek that loves Dungeons and Dragons! I’ve been playing for a little more than 5 years with most of that serving as the DM for my own home-brew campaign. At my table, I prefer a relaxed approach to rules to not only allow easy entry for new players but to allow more room for imaginative problem solving and awesome combat moments. My favorite thing about D&D is sharing the hobby with others. This game has brought me so many fun memories, good friends, and creativity and I want to share that with others.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

What Mikey brings to the table

For my games, I use D&DBeyond.com for visuals and combat and Discord will be used to host the game. If you are new to the game, I'm happy to coach you through each step from character creation to combat and spellcasting. I will have a campaign made on D&DBeyond.com that you will be able to join. I have content sharing on so you will benefit from what I've purchased on the site and you'll be connected with the other VTT tools the site offers. We live by the Rule of Cool at my table. If you can weave me a good yarn or paint an awesome picture, I'm definitely willing to bend the rules so we can have cool or hilarious character moments. I love to celebrate Natural 20's with heroics and accomplishing the impossible. Natural 1's are met with the same fanfare as failures will be comical or devastating. Visually, two forms of imagination aid are used: Set pieces - an image meant to convey the setting in non-combat situations. These images are sourced from the internet or drawn by me. Combat maps - gridded maps of a combat area w/ tokens to represent players and enemies. These are sourced from the internet, or created by me. Map + Set Piece Sources: 2 minute Tabletop, Silver Compass Maps, Cassastero's Mapperie, Ataraxian Bear, GEEK NEXUS, Bourough Bound, Guild of Navigators, Monument Studios, Czepeku, Forgotten Adventures

Safety

How Mikey creates a safe table

Session 0: At Session 0 we'll discuss characters [including making characters if needed], talk about the setting, and discuss what sort of experience the players are looking for. Lastly, we'll discuss Lines and Veils to make sure everyone is comfortable at the table. Lines and Veils: These will be discussed at Session 0 and updated as needed. Open Door: If anyone needs to leave the session either briefly or otherwise, they are more than welcome. All I ask is that if you will not be coming back to the table during the session, send me a message so I can proceed accordingly. No explanation is needed, just a heads up. Breaks: The session is 3 hours long. We'll take a 5-10 minute break in the middle but we can take more as wanted/needed. Stars and Wishes: I appreciate all feedback! Feel free to express what you liked in the session or what could make the game better in whatever format you feel comfortable in; i.e. message, during session
