About the adventure

Ravenloft: The Shadow of Azalin Rex is a level 1 to 20 campaign featuring D&D's horror settings, the Domains of Dread. Each representing a different sub-genre to enjoy. This campaign is for those who enjoy: - An overarching quest weaving in your characters' desires. - Morally grey characters. - Challenging boss fights. - Horror. --- The Hook: What's Happening --- A monster stalks Vol Ziyden, desecrating home and grave alike, while the bourgeoisie turn a blind eye. But you have stepped forward to help for coin, righteousness, or otherwise. Delving into the town's tragic past - perhaps, even, too far. Please Note: Characters are level 1. The campaign hasn't started yet. --- Module Enhancements --- Ravenloft: The Shadow of Azalin Rex uses the following to enhance players' experience. - Maps and handouts for improved clarity. - Pre-made Characters (up to level 5) with usage guides, so new players can jump in. - Background music and sound effects for ambiance. - All allowed character content through Roll20 and D&D Beyond. - GM Notes posted after each session, so even if you miss the session, you'll be caught up.

About me

Hi👋, I'm Franc, better known as Golvin. I'd like to be your GM. While I mainly run D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and Alien RPG, my real pleasure is trying new modules and systems. (Cowboy Bebop RPG anyone?) Which has led me to a specialization in running one-shots, often including highly detailed handouts, pre-made characters, and other player aids. I also write the Reviews from the Far Reams Substack newsletter, currently focused on helping others get the most out of Call of Cthulhu 7e modules.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players can choose between making their own character with Roll20/D&D Beyond* or using a pre-made character. If creating your own, please keep the following restrictions in mind. - D&D 5.5e content only without prior approval. (I'm particularly suspicious of 3rd party and homebrew content.) - Point Buy or Standard Array only for stats. (No rolling.) - A reason to be part of the adventure. (Can just be greed.) I share character creation content through both Roll20 and D&D Beyond. However, my collection on the latter has gaps. If you're interested in content from one of those, please let me know, so I can buy the book and share it with you.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To participate in the game, you will need: ✔️A Roll20* account (free), ✔️A Discord account (free), ✔️A microphone, ✔️A headset or quiet space (i.e. no background noise please). *Roll20 doesn't do well with touch screens.

What Golvin - One-Shot GM brings to the table

I provide a quick paced module with 📚All available character creation resources through Roll20. 🎨Handouts crafted to enhance your experience (and clarity) 🧝 5 pre-made characters specific to this adventure, including optional backgrounds and "how to use" guides. (More if you're fine with backstories not quite lining up.) 🕰️ A decade running and teaching D&D among other TTRPG

Homebrew rules

As a rule, I run as close to Rules as Written as possible, unless I changes are required or make more sense. (E.g. snakes are immune to the Prone condition, unless you get creative.)

Safety

How Golvin - One-Shot GM creates a safe table

After joining, players are sent my Line & Veils and ask for theirs in return. Which are then confirmed at the beginning of the session as part of a mini-session 0. During the game, if anything disturbs you, please tell me, leave an "X" in the chat, or privately message me. I will then remove the offending or skip past it. Likewise, if you feel the adventure is going in an unsavory direction but use an "N" instead. I will also check in if I notice anything is off.
