About the adventure
This adventure takes place in the Forgotten Realms, where the adventurers are hired to go to the town of Phandalin. There, they'll find all sorts of problems to deal with, each offering their own rewards as payment. This one is a more classic/traditional D&D adventure, with bandits, goblins, and an undergoing mystery regarding what is truly going on in this region.

About me
Salutations, Adventurers! I've been a long-time player and a GM for the past five years. My players know me for the great work under NPCs, who feel real and with proper motivations, for my excellent mix of combat and narrative within my games, and for being able to keep long campaigns running, with four campaigns where each lasted around 2 years, each being concluded within the span of five years (different groups, so this time overlaps). Expect fights, fun downtime moments that enrich your roleplaying, your backstory heavily influencing the campaign, and a good mix of drama and silliness. For online games, I tend to use Roll20 and Discord. Expect battlemaps, proper tokens for NPCs (unless they're improvised, of course), and music!

Creating your character
Session Zero will provide further details, but if you wish to start brainstorming ideas, consider the following: Point Buy for stats. Species and subclasses from 2014 are valid. A custom background will be available and explained during session zero. Your characters can be from any official D&D setting. Your characters don't need to know one another beforehand (they can, though).
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Accounts on Roll20 and Discord will be necessary. I'll make a Discord server to sort things out.
What Lucas brings to the table
Ambient music, organized Discord server and information database on Roll20. You're free to use homebrew, provided that I verify and approve it on a case-by-case scenario. The official story will be altered to better fit your characters' backstories, as well as adaptations of my own to improve the overall narrative.
Homebrew rules
Custom Background for 2024/5.5e (I'll explain in session zero). You may cast a spell with both your action and bonus action on the same turn (provided you have two spell slots to do so). Material components that cost 300gp or less can be ignored, provided that you have a spellcasting focus. For material components that cost 301gp or more, you can burn the gold itself instead of having the material when casting the spell.

How Lucas creates a safe table
During session zero, I'll ask for any topics you'd like to be kept out of the campaign, while also talking about the ones Curse of Strahd already contains for being a more mature story compared to others. Should any scene get uncomfortable, you're free to say 'Pause' at any given time for us to stop and possibly retcon the moment depending on your needs. You're also free to use text instead, through the X, N, or O system (will be explained on session zero)
