Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello fellow adventure lovers and welcome to Quills & Quests, a tavern dedicated to the telling of stories! Bards, scribes, playwrights, and historians travel from all across the land to hear first-hand accounts of valiant quests from the heroes that also frequent our halls. We know that every hero has a story worth telling and we can't wait to hear yours! My name in Andru the Author and I'll be your guide. After years in IT Customer Service, I discovered my past experiences have actually been preparing me for the joys of being a dedicated Game Master. With a Communications degree in Film & Television I learned how to craft engaging stories, perform with immersive voice-acting, and communicate with honed precision. Then with over 10 years of experience in Customer Service, I gained experience as a personable problem solver that offered white glove experiences for every customer in need. However, my love of epic adventures started at a much younger age by playing games like the "Legend of Zelda" and reading books like "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings". It was my love for the stories in the lands of Hyrule and Middle-earth that drove me to leave my career and start my own business where, through fantasy writings and games, I explore heroism as a means of self-improvement, promote mental health awareness, advocate for fair play, and foster creativity. “Enchantment produces a secondary world into which designer and spectator can enter to the satisfaction of their senses while they are inside. But in it’s purity it is artistic in desire and purpose.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien It is in journeying through the fantasy of these Secondary Worlds that we learn of the courage, kindness, hope, and justice it takes to face the difficulties of our Primary Worlds. “Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisioned by the enemy, don’t we consider it his duty to escape? If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we’re partisans of liberty, then it’s our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can." ~ Ursula K. Le Guin

Creating your character
Being a Game Master means you don't have your own character, but you get to help players build their characters and then you get to run dozens of nasty monsters! While that means you get a lot more options in cool attacks and spells you get to try out by running villains, it also means you must try and keep track of those enemies while also being mindful of your characters abilities and stats as well. The players will keep up with their characters for the most part but I'll help give you tips on how to keep track of their sheets as well to help build fluid and immersive encounters.
