About the adventure

"Over the Garden Wall" meets "Midsommar" in this unnerving, violent, yet whimsical setting of Druskenvald, a highly diverse domain of dread riddled with twisted fairytales, cursed villages, and the kind of stories told in whispers by candlelight. The forests are ancient. The superstitions are real. The moon above hangs crooked and grinning in the sky, as if something has bent it to its will. Whether you seek to break curses, uncover ancient truths, or simply survive, the Crooked Moon will test you... and it always takes its due. Influenced heavily by the Golden Age of America and deep, old-fashioned Southern cultish vibes, this campaign will carry you from levels 1-13 as you explore the provinces, collect the pieces of a legendary cane, and either restore Lord Philip Druskenvald's godhood or damn him to his fate. His authority is... questionable, at best, and it's up to you to bring peace to this land of the dead one way or another. Players that enjoy heavy roleplay and character development will love this game! Combat will be occasional but difficult, and picking fights needlessly will have consequences within the world of Druskenvald. The campaign will last between 1-2 years if everything goes well.

About me

After working retail for half a decade, I realized that using my 10+ years as a DM could be much more lucrative and enjoyable than going back to cashiering! I host a range of roleplay-heavy games with immersive worldbuilding and wild shenanigans! My players tend to fear me, love me, or both. <3

Character creation

Creating your character

Character brainstorming and party creation will be spoken of at length during Session 0! All of your characters will have died at the beginning of the module, so brainstorm how your PC may have met their end and we'll have fun with that. We'll be using Roll20 for maps and gameplay, but if you want to plug in a sheet from DnDBeyond that's fine too. 2024 rules + Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

- A steady internet connection - Discord Account (https://discord.com/) - Roll20 Account (https://roll20.net) - Working microphone for voice chat - Working webcam (optional) Webcam is not necessary but it is highly preferred, as being able to see faces and body language makes for easier roleplay/discussion. Game will be hosted on Roll20, so make an account! I have a Pro subscription for dynamic lighting and all the basic content for the Crooked Moon module, plus any custom content made specifically for my players.

What Vivian G. brings to the table

With 12+ years of experience as a GM in D&D 5e, I am experienced with character voices, improvisation, and custom maps/tokens. I utilize ambient music as well! My combat ranges from easy (mowing down minions) to intense, tactical boss battles, and is used to shape and enhance the story rather than for the sake of combat itself. I happily embrace the Rule of Cool, but use Rules as Written to balance out any "broken" mechanics. With me, Natural 20s are always a mindblowing success and Natural 1s are always a hilarious failure.

Homebrew rules

1. If you fall unconscious as a result of necrotic or poison damage, you have disadvantage on death saving throws. 2. You can drink a potion as a bonus action and roll for healing, OR you can drink it as an action and automatically take the maximum amount of healing. 3. When suffering exhaustion levels from extreme cold, you can recover a level of exhaustion by spending one hour in a warm shelter with a stable heat source.

Safety

How Vivian G. creates a safe table

Since Crooked Moon is a module with horror elements and charged undertones, Session 0 will be covering my players' lines and veils, a trigger discussion, and character brainstorming. In addition, I will be sending a Monte Cook Consent Checklist to each player to be filled out before Session 1. My X, N, & O's can be messaged over Discord or said on video if necessary during session. I have an open-door policy, and courteous communication is encouraged!
