About the adventure
Deep in the black, beyond the safety of mapped space, a remote corporate research station has gone silent. You are part of the crew sent to investigate. What begins as a routine recovery mission quickly becomes something far worse. Systems are failing. Records do not match. The station’s crew are missing, dead, or changed by whatever they found in the dark. Every corridor feels too quiet. Every order from corporate sounds a little too rehearsed. And somewhere inside the station, something is waiting. ALIEN: Heart of Darkness is a cinematic horror scenario for the official ALIEN RPG, built around tension, survival, secrecy, and hard choices. This is not heroic space fantasy. This is corporate paranoia, failing technology, body horror, desperate alliances, and the creeping realisation that you may not have been told the whole truth. Players will take on pre-generated characters with their own skills, motives, relationships, and hidden agendas. You will work together because survival demands it — but trust is never guaranteed. In true ALIEN fashion, the question is not just “Can we survive?” but “What are we willing to do to survive?” Expect a tense, atmospheric game focused on investigation, roleplay, moral pressure, and sudden bursts of panic-fuelled action. Combat can happen, and when it does, it is dangerous, brutal, and rarely clean. Ammunition runs low. Air runs thin. Stress builds. The dark gets closer. This game is ideal for players who enjoy: * Sci-fi horror and survival tension * The ALIEN films, especially the darker corporate horror side of the setting * Character drama, secrets, and hidden agendas * Investigating strange environments under pressure * Cinematic one-shot or short-campaign style play * Games where bad decisions can have serious consequences New players are welcome. You do not need to know the ALIEN RPG rules in advance, and you do not need to have played the previous cinematic scenarios. I will guide you through the system, the dice, the stress mechanics, and the tone as we play. The aim is to create a tense, immersive horror experience where every choice matters and every player gets a chance to shine before the darkness closes in. In space, no one is coming to save you. And corporate already knows that.

About me
I am relatively new to the TTRPG Community but have been a fan for years. I started playing in 2025 after finding a great community and then decided to jump into the GM seat. My first run of Alien RPG was a challenge and made me anxious but once I started I felt so comfortable and got some really good feedback from the players, especially as there were 2 regular GM's playing with over 60 years experience between them. I have studied different systems from the ever present D20, Year-Zero, Genesys, COC and many more I am currently writing a campaign set in the Resident Evil universe using the Genesys system with fully customised and interactive maps. If anyone would like to give this new GM a try I am willing to GM for free

How Daves RPGs creates a safe table
This is a cinematic sci-fi horror game set in the ALIEN universe. The tone will include tension, fear, isolation, corporate mistrust, body horror, violence, panic, and desperate survival choices. The goal is to create an intense horror experience, but never at the expense of player comfort or trust. Before play begins, we will briefly discuss boundaries, tone, and expectations. Players are encouraged to tell me privately or openly if there is any content they do not want included or would prefer to keep off-screen. You never need to explain or justify a boundary. This game may include: * Body horror * Alien creatures and hostile organisms * Violence and injury * Character death * Panic, stress, and fear * Corporate exploitation * Betrayal, secrecy, and hidden agendas * Claustrophobic environments * Medical horror and contamination themes The game will not include sexual violence, graphic torture, or real-world hate speech. Any especially disturbing content can be softened, implied, faded to black, or removed completely. We will use the following safety tools: **Lines and Veils** A Line is content that will not appear in the game. A Veil is content that may exist but will happen off-screen or without graphic detail. **X-Card / Pause Tool** At any point, a player can say “pause,” “X-card,” or message me privately if something feels uncomfortable. The scene will stop, adjust, rewind, or move forward with no pressure to explain. **Open Door Policy** Players may step away from the table at any time for any reason. No explanation is needed. Horror games can be intense, and taking a break is completely fine. **Check-Ins** I may check in during or after intense scenes to make sure everyone is still enjoying the tone. A simple thumbs up, thumbs sideways, or private message is enough. **Debrief After the Game** After the session, there will be time to decompress, talk about favourite moments, and separate the horror of the fiction from the players at the table. Player-versus-player tension may exist through secrets, agendas, and difficult choices, but this is not an excuse to make the game miserable for others. The priority is still a fun, respectful, collaborative experience. The rule is simple: we can make the characters scared, desperate, and doomed — but the players should feel safe, respected, and excited to keep playing.
