About the adventure
*Perfect for first-time D&D players* FREE SESSION 0 The Borderlands are a wild and dangerous place. Beyond the safety of the Keep lie monster-infested caves, hidden treasures, and countless opportunities for adventure. Merchants, soldiers, explorers, and would-be heroes all pass through this frontier, hoping to make a name for themselves. Most fail. A few become legends. This campaign is designed specifically for new and first-time Dungeons & Dragons players. You’ll learn the game the same way generations of players have learned it: by going on adventures. No lengthy lectures. No homework. No memorizing rulebooks. Instead, you’ll learn naturally through exploration, roleplay, problem-solving, and combat as your character grows from an inexperienced adventurer into a true hero. Along the way you’ll learn: ⚔️ How roleplaying works ⚔️ How combat and teamwork work ⚔️ How skill checks and dice rolls work ⚔️ How to solve problems creatively ⚔️ How your choices shape the story Most importantly, you’ll learn that there is no “right way” to play D&D. Creativity is encouraged. Questions are welcome. Mistakes are expected. Whether this is your first tabletop RPG or your first time playing online, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and excited to play. The rules can be learned. The memories you’ll make are the reason people keep playing for decades. Player Facing Portal: https://www.legendkeeper.com/app/cmow4xe8z2f5g0jk91oz2bhqe/zk6znrk6/

About me
Hi. I’m David aka Evil Penguin. When I was 11 years old, an older neighbor kid told me how cool this book he was reading was called Lord of the Rings. So, I read it myself. At that age, this was the first adult novel I had ever read. By the time I finished the series, I knew that all I wanted to do in life was tell stories half as good as that story. That same neighbor kid and I started playing D&D together and I’ve not looked back since. I went on to study creative writing in college before eventually ending up working professionally in the film industry (that’s my day job). So, a lot of what I bring to the table comes from years of thinking about storytelling, pacing, character moments, when to build and release tension, and creating memorable experiences for an audience. As a GM, my focus is simple: I want everyone to have fun and feel like they were an active part of an incredible story. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please let me know. Try out a session. Players of all experience levels are welcome at my table. I run an inclusive, LGBTQ+ friendly table where respect for everyone is mandatory. It’s good to know that apparently I’m doing something right because most of my players end up coming back for future campaigns and I’ve had many IRL tables that have run for years with the same players. And if you’d like to get a better sense of my GMing style, worldbuilding, and approach to tabletop RPGs, you can also check out my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@EvilPenguinRPG

Creating your character
If you’re brand new to Dungeons & Dragons, I strongly recommend starting with one of the pre-generated characters I provide. Each character is designed to be easy to play while still showcasing what makes their class unique. This allows you to jump straight into the adventure without worrying about character creation. If you’d prefer to create your own character, I’m happy to help. We can work together before the game to build a character that fits both your interests and the campaign. There is no wrong choice. Whether you choose a pre-generated character or create your own, my goal is to make sure you feel comfortable and ready to play when the adventure begins.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The good news: almost no preparation is required. You do not need to read the rules, purchase books, or watch tutorial videos beforehand. Everything you need to know will be taught during play. You’ll only need: ⚔️ A free Discord account ⚔️ A free Roll20 account ⚔️ A microphone ⚔️ A stable internet connection If you need help setting up Discord or Roll20, I’m happy to help.
What EvilPenguin brings to the table
⚔️ A beginner-friendly teaching environment ⚔️ A dedicated Discord server for the campaign ⚔️ A 24/7 player portal with maps, notes, and references ⚔️ Character portraits and custom tokens ⚔️ Access to my D&D Beyond and Roll20 libraries ⚔️ Distinct NPC voices and immersive roleplay ⚔️ High-quality maps and visual aids ⚔️ Curated music and atmosphere ⚔️ Nearly four decades of D&D experience Most importantly, I create a space where new players can ask questions, experiment, make mistakes, and learn the game without feeling pressure to get everything right.

Safety
How EvilPenguin creates a safe table
Your comfort and enjoyment are important. Before the campaign begins, all players will complete a brief safety survey to identify any topics or content they’d prefer to avoid. We’ll discuss expectations and boundaries before the first session and continue to check in throughout the campaign. I run an inclusive, LGBTQ+ friendly table where respect for fellow players is mandatory. Harassment, bullying, discrimination, hate speech, or behavior that makes other players feel unsafe will not be tolerated. Questions are welcome. Mistakes are expected. Everyone deserves a chance to learn, participate, and enjoy the game in a supportive environment.
