About the adventure

Willowshore is your home. You and your fellow hunters, fishers, and farmers were left to languish and live off the land since the shuttering of your lumber industry. You are a raised local, an accepted outsider, or even an original homesteader. The humblest communities hide the biggest secrets, and few are so modest as Willowshore. One secret is so dire that it cursed the town, stealing away the governor and encircling the surrounding hinterlands in a wall of mist. This adventure path spans from 1st through 12th level with a focus on mystery, exploration, and village management. My inspirations for this adventure are Cosmology of Kyoto (1993), The Wailing (2016), and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019). I’ll be providing a forlorn (and festive) horror atmosphere with music, sound effects, and voicework.

About me

My love of theatre and radio plays brought me into tabletop roleplaying games through exposure to actual play podcasts such as Acquisitions Inc., Godsfall, and Turncloaks. I was enamored by the uses of music, voice acting, and story set-pieces to enhance the improv you can only get from TTRPGs into scenes as tense and thrilling as any pulp serial or audio drama. I want to offer you something similarly cinematic, but also personal. Each session we'll be tuning in—not to the stories of Superman or the Shadow—but to your own trials and terrors decided by the whims of the dice. Please don't hesitate to message with any questions, comments, concerns, or points of inquiry. My door is always open. P.S. My profile picture comes courtesy of a commission from the fantastic Kiyoshuki. Find her at https://kiyoshuki.carrd.co/

Character creation

Creating your character

Take time to brainstorm concepts with myself and your fellow players so we can finalize the party during Session 0. Characters will start play at level 1 and will advance up to level 12 by the adventure's conclusion. Characters should be built with Free Archetype. If a character has access to a 1st level Ancestry feat which would allow them to disguise as a human they may take it as an extra feat for free. Third party content is allowed with approval. Any content by Team+ ➕ is pre-approved.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

🎙️ Have a working microphone with clear audio, a stable internet connection, a free Discord account, and a free Forge VTT account (https://forge-vtt.com/). Webcams optional. Before you join the Discord server, I'll arrange a one-on-one meeting to confirm the above requirements and ask about your game preferences. We'll build character leading up to the first session.

What Alexander brings to the table

⚒️ Foundry VTT server hosted on the forge, curated with quality of life modules to make the game experience high quality and low friction. 🗺️ Explorable region maps of Willowshore village and hinterlands, and encounter maps for every occasion. 🎼 Haunted ambience and soundtrack produced by Michael Ghelfi Studios (with some additional tracks of my own selection).

Homebrew rules

This game will include Free Archetype. If a character has a 1st level Ancestry feat which would allow them to disguise as a human they may take it as an extra feat for free. Keeley's Hero Point Rule: When you reroll using a Hero Point, add +10 to any 1-10 result on the die. Essentially, you cannot roll below an 11 on a Hero Point reroll.

Safety

How Alexander creates a safe table

❌ During sessions, you can press a button to pop up an 🗙-card on-screen. When the card comes up we break and discuss what needs to be changed for you to feel comfortable continuing with the game. ⏳ Mid-session, there'll be a 10-20 minute break. 📝 At the end of each session we'll debrief with any questions, comments, concerns, or points of inquiry. Please share your favorite moments from the session and what you're looking forward to next time.
