About the adventure
This campaign is my attempt to run a BTVS game using the official system from the early 2000s. This system is old and not in current circulation, so this will be my first time running this game for people online. I plan on running this campaign like a standard TV show format with episodes, seasons, and the like (I've even picked out a couple potential songs to use for the main theme). I have a chunk of ideas for the campaign in mind, but I would love to work with players to establish a more cohesive narrative that we would all enjoy. What you can expect: -Ghosts, Ghouls, Goblins, and other monsters that start with the letter "G". Oh, and ones that start with other letters. -Player-focused storytelling -Fun! -Drama! -Classic Monster of the Week Weirdness!

About me
Hi, I'm Charlie, also known as Buffy by my friends, and I've been playing TTRPGS since I was 10. My dad played DnD back in the 80s, first edition, which he taught to me and my sisters using a 5th edition playset (you can imagine the issues that caused, lol). Since then, I've gotten into more RPGs like Marvel Multiverse, Genesys System, PbtA, World of Darkness, and Essence20. I'm always down to learn new systems! I prefer to lead games through player-GM cooperation. I build the bones of the story by setting the tone of the game as well as basic themes and throughlines, and then players will bring the characters and roleplay that will make up the supporting meat, and which I will then flesh out to it's fullest potential. I am also a stickler for safety and fairness in my games. I've been on the receiving end of unprofessional GMs who did not care for the safety of their players as well as those who sat on their laurels while player conflict got out of hand. Conflict resolution is a skill I pride myself, and I promise that will not only my you comfortable on my end, I will also make sure players are treating each other right.

Creating your character
The Buffy RPG uses the Cinematic Unisystem, so I will walk all players through the creation of their characters. There is no official VTT for the game, so I will either find a PDF of the corebook or stream the physical corebook I own. While I normally work with players to decide on whether or not they would prefer individual session zeroes or a group session zero all together, I believe that a group session zero is the correct choice for a game of this type. Obviously, a main draw for a large amount of players is "being Buffy", getting to be The Slayer, which is a valid draw. But in every generation, there is a Chosen ONE, meaning not every player looking to live their Slayer fantasies will get to do so in one game. The group session zero will begin with a discussion on which player will take up the mantel and lead the fight against the forces of darkness. The discussion will take a couple things into account: -Who actually *wants* to be the Slayer? -Who has the best concept for a Slayer-type character? -Who has the best concepts for the non-Slayer characters? -Who will be the most engaged with the game? If you are planning to join the game and want to potentially be the Slayer, please come prepared with at least one non-Slayer character concept, the mindset that you might not be selected to play the Slayer, and the understanding that non-Slayer characters are just as important and will have just as much spotlight as the Slayer. I've said "Slayer" SO much here it's starting to sound less and less of a real word. Some quick bullet points to get ahead of some questions: -Multiple Slayers? Not to start with. But later down the line through plot stuff? Perhaps (: -Male Slayers? Unless you have a REALLY good concept for one, no. BTVS is a very layered work and it's part of it's strength comes from it's unique spins on various tropes related to gender and sex in media. "BTVS but the Slayer is male" is a backwards step in my opinion. That being said, if you've got a concept you think will work in this vein, I encourage you to at least offer it up, no judgement. -Trans Slayers? Absolutely allowed. -No Slayers? If no one wants to be the Slayer, she will be an NPC as a contact for the players. They will NOT be a DMPC or have any spotlight outside of interacting with players. TLDR: We'll all meet to discuss the role of "the Slayer" during session zero, with a couple rules and prereqs, please have at least one non-Slayer character concept in mind, and please be aware that even if you are not playing the Slayer, you/your character are just as important and will have your spotlight just as much as the slayer. No favoritism at this table.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Have a baseline knowledge of what "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" is. The game will not include direct involvement with the show and it's characters, you do not have to even have seen the show, but just be aware of the general vibe. We will be running on Roll20 and Discord. Both are free.
What Charlie brings to the table
I emphasize above all else, a fun experience full of immersive roleplay, emergent storytelling, and in-depth decision making. I aim to offer a balance of fun moments and emotional beats, making sure that everyone is comfortable along the way. I will give my all to ensure an accurate and immersive spin on the BTVS formula.

How Charlie creates a safe table
Safety tools such as Lines and Veils (using Google Docs), X-Cards, an Open Door policy, and mandated mid-game breaks are implented as standard, with further specifications discussed during session zero. I am a mediator at heart, and will strive to make you comfortable in any way I can. I have been at tables with antagonistic GMs and GMs that let player conflict spiral out of control, so I strive to make my tables safe, comfortable places where anyone can come to me with any issue, and I will do my best to offer aid in the matter. I have little tolerance for "that guy"s and those that use TTRPGs to bully others with no consequences.
