About the adventure

You are not heroes. You are hired steel: a hard company of mercenaries sent into a place others would rather avoid. Orders are simple enough—land at the quay, enter the ruins, secure the target, and get out—but nothing in the city stays simple for long. Every alley can become a kill zone. Every broken stair, cellar mouth, and window frame may hide watching eyes. This is a grim, grounded fantasy play-by-post scenario focused on tension, reconnaissance, hard choices, and dangerous close-quarters fighting. The game unfolds through written posts, allowing the pressure, uncertainty, and atmosphere of the expedition to build over time. Expect a bleak mood, cautious exploration, and tactical combat where positioning, information, and judgement matter more than flashy powers. The fog of war is real: you will often only know what your characters can see, hear, and piece together in the moment. What you learn will depend on where you go, what risks you take, and how carefully you read the signs around you. This game is ideal for both new and experienced players who enjoy grim mercenary fantasy, immersive atmosphere, careful planning, and combat with real consequences, all within a play-by-post format that rewards strong decisions, clear communication, and steady involvement.

About me

I’m Pete ‘the Elder’, a long-time GM and tabletop wargamer with decades of experience running one-shots and campaigns across fantasy, sci-fi, modern, and historical settings. I discovered Kriegsspiel years ago and loved what it does best: fog of war, meaningful decisions, and consequences that emerge naturally from play. These days I blend Kriegsspiel-style adjudication with roleplay to create games where you’re placed in tense situations, given imperfect information, and asked to make real choices under pressure. If you enjoy grounded worlds, tough calls, and stories shaped by what you do at the table, you’ll feel right at home in my games.

Character creation

Creating your character

Each player will be able select a character from a pre-generated list before the game starts. The characters available are all considered skilled veterans. The Kriegsspiel system doesn´t present characters to the players in the form of number based skills and abilities, rather the players are given a description of the characters that implies what they are good at and not so good at.
